Questions & Answers

Is the pole saw runs on 220V 50hz

Asked by: Jeffrey
Thank you for asking, Jeffrey. This product has a precision-built electric motor. It should be connected to a power supply that is 120 volts, AC only (normal household current), 60 Hz. Do not operate this product on direct current (DC). A substantial voltage drop will cause a loss of power and the motor will overheat. I hope this helps and we appreciate your interest in Ryobi! -Keri

How to Retract?

How do you get it to fully retract? Mine seems to be restricted possibly by the cord inside.
Asked by: Lake
Thank you for asking, Lake. If the troubleshooting tips in the products operating manual do not address or aid in resolving the particular difficulty that you are experiencing, then there is possibly something wrong with the product that an authorized service provider should check and advise on or correct. For warranty coverage/service and repairs, your closest authorized service center can be determined from the service center locator URL below, by using your mailing zip code in the search field. The service center should be contacted and arrangements made for warranty service, prior to taking the complete product in to them. https://www.ryobitools.com/outdoor/support/service-centers I hope this helps and we appreciate your interest in Ryobi! -Keri

are you supposed to remove the sponge in the oil tank or leave it in?

Asked by: dsulli
Thank you for asking, Dsulli. This pole saw bar and chain reservoir holds approximately 2 oz. of bar and chain lubricant into the bar lube reservoir. The sponge inside the bar and chain reservoir is not required for proper use of this machine. I hope this helps and we appreciate your interest in Ryobi! -Keri

Light weight and easy to use. my last 2 Pole saw weight 15 LBS plus. No issues what so ever. This is my 3Rd pole saw and this one is no question the best yet. This was my first Ryobi Very good job. Light weight even at full length . You must refill bar oil allot but this does cut down on the weight. angle saw head is a plus. again very good tool. I did purchase the replacement warranty but have now realized i wasted that money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for homeowners To start off with I shop around for my tools a lot before I buy. I picked this model for the lesser weight and the angled bar. Sure a corded model is a pain, but for an average homeowner it's fine. It goes through bar oil quickly, see mind it's level. I already have all my neighbors wanting to borrow it and opens your eyes to amount of limbs that need cut. No extra force is needed to cut, let it's own weight do the work. Compared to cheeper models I have none, since it's the only one I bought. it's worth the buy

Use good oil. Angled chain bar is perfect for upper-reached limbs when making that first cut; (the under-limb upper cut). I am building a better chain guard sleeve out of plywood. We enjoy using this pole saw. Fast cutter.

I used this pole chainsaw to cut a large pine tree that fell during hurricane Irma. It has worked very well, almost unbelievable. I have cut thru up to 16" branches with this tool. It has saved me so very much money:) well worth the 100$ spent. I am a 55 yo woman who is out of shape but was still able to use this for hours at a time at the highest reaches available even up on a ladder(not recommended!). The grip where you must hold the safety button and lever at same time is a bit of a reach and somewhat awkward for my small hand but I was able to make it work! Yes this chainsaw needs attention: You will have to take off housing to clean out gear area and adjust the blade tension and yes you will need to add oil occasionally. I consider this low maintenance compared to the way this inexpensive tool has performed for me so far. Eventually I might have to buy a new chain but considering the amount of cutting I have done I will not mind. so far so good and I love the independence this tool has provided me and the $$$ I have saved by not hiring a pro, who by the way gave me an estimate of 1800$ to take care of this pine tree. This was an excellent purchase for me.

Bought this saw last week (2/17) to trim two cherry trees that have not been trimmed for 20 years. This little saw works great for almost any size branch you need to cut. Some people say it is heavy on the end. I am 68 years old and not the strongest guy in the world but was able to manage cuts from almost any angle. DO NOT TWIST THE BLADE as it will not cut and be sure to refill the oil frequently. I would have given it five stars except for one thing. Once the bottom part is extended it does not recede all the way. Then top part works fine but the bottom hangs up. I assume it is the cord inside scrunching together. All in all I would recommend this to anyone

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool, Great value! This tool worked great for my application. I had a number of branches hanging over my pool that needed to be cut. I was looking to save on the cost of a landscaper to do the work. This tool really worked well for this job. I was able to cut the branches sometimes up to 4" in diameter. I purposely bought the electric version rather than the battery. I wanted to make sure I had enough power. One note is that it can be a bit heavy when extending the pole to the 9.5' length. Shoulder can ache after a while. Other than that I highly recommend this tool.
