How to Retract?

How do you get it to fully retract? Mine seems to be restricted possibly by the cord inside.
Asked by: Lake
The assembled pole saw can easily be collapsed (retract?) by turning the gray plastic collars, counter clock-wise which will loosen the pole sections. Then, by pushing the pole sections inward to the desired shortened pole length can then be accomplished. Remember to re-tighten the gray plastic collars clock-wise to keep the pole saw sections "locked" at the re-positioned desired length.

are you supposed to remove the sponge in the oil tank or leave it in?

Asked by: dsulli
Yes, take it out or you will not be able to get much oil in the container.

What type of oil does it require

Asked by: Tara
Just standard "Bar and Chain"' oil. There's a cap on top that you fill it up with and then you're ready to go!

Bought this saw last week (2/17) to trim two cherry trees that have not been trimmed for 20 years. This little saw works great for almost any size branch you need to cut. Some people say it is heavy on the end. I am 68 years old and not the strongest guy in the world but was able to manage cuts from almost any angle. DO NOT TWIST THE BLADE as it will not cut and be sure to refill the oil frequently. I would have given it five stars except for one thing. Once the bottom part is extended it does not recede all the way. Then top part works fine but the bottom hangs up. I assume it is the cord inside scrunching together. All in all I would recommend this to anyone

I have been through FOUR of these same model pole saws, because there were not many other in store available options and also thanks to the very generous return policy of Home Depot, where I mostly shop. The product will work fine for the very short duration, but when challenged with larger branches and vines the chain will dislodge requiring adjustment. Thereafter, the saw will repeat this cycle of chain dislodging and soon become useless to the user. My hope would be that Ryobi would troubleshoot the engineering issues with this electric saw to make it a much longer lasting product.

I bought the product to trim oaks and cedars around my home in San Antonio, Texas. Last year we gave about $1000 for this trimming service. I thought the approx. $100 investment could be worth it. I assembled the saw, which is quite easy. I added chain oil, which is also quite easy. I then tested the saw. WOW! This is easy. I trimmed several trees all in the matter of a few minutes. I quickly built up a nice pile of branches and it was really easy. Yes, this is a good product. Why waste hard earned money on tree trimming services, when you can buy this saw, some branch paint to protect the trees and just do the job yourself. Great product guys. I've just bought it, so it its reliability and durability meet the test, then I will be 100% satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for homeowners To start off with I shop around for my tools a lot before I buy. I picked this model for the lesser weight and the angled bar. Sure a corded model is a pain, but for an average homeowner it's fine. It goes through bar oil quickly, see mind it's level. I already have all my neighbors wanting to borrow it and opens your eyes to amount of limbs that need cut. No extra force is needed to cut, let it's own weight do the work. Compared to cheeper models I have none, since it's the only one I bought. it's worth the buy

Light weight and easy to use. my last 2 Pole saw weight 15 LBS plus. No issues what so ever. This is my 3Rd pole saw and this one is no question the best yet. This was my first Ryobi Very good job. Light weight even at full length . You must refill bar oil allot but this does cut down on the weight. angle saw head is a plus. again very good tool. I did purchase the replacement warranty but have now realized i wasted that money.

The coiled electrical core does not fit into the tube completed which would not allow the pole to retract to its shorted length. It takes someone with strong and long arms to maintain the balance of the heavy cutting head and at the same time holding the electrical trigger to use.

The saw was easy to use and functioned well, it does get a little heavy after holding it in the air for a while. Make sure you purchase bar oil when you buy this saw as it doesn't come with and does go through a fair amount of oil to keep the saw properly lubricated.
