The Ryobi 9.6V cordless drill has a separate charging unit. If I was to leave a battery charging overnight will the charger shut down automatically

Does the charger shut down itself once it reaches full capacity?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes it is a drill, but read the manual Read the manual: The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a low charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should charge overnight prior to use. Note Batteries will not reach full charge the first time they are charhged. Allow serveral cycles (operation followed by charging) for them to become fully charged. After normail usage, 3 hours or less charging time is required for fully recharge battery pack.If both red and orage LED indicators glow, the battery pack is deeply or completely discharged, and 6 hours or longer charging time is required to fully recharge battery pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good drill for many home needs. This is a great drill for around the house. I would reccomend it highly. Very compact and light weight compared to another one I have. However I find myself using this one a lot more. I re-did my deck this past summer and needed my other 20 volt to drive in the long deck screws. This one would not have done the job. Common sense is the key, again this light weight takes care of most home needs that are not heavy duty. It runs very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Drill does well with variable speed I owned one of these many years ago and this new drill works every bit as good as the last. The level on the drill is a good plus! You can also buy replacement battery for around $10.00.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lady's Special Not too heavy and fits my hand. Powerful enough to make a platform bed from scratch on one charge with oomph left over!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for small/light duty DIY projects First of all I must say this drill is a 9.6v. So don't buy it expecting to screw down duroc or for that matter if try to fasten a 4" deck screw to a stud. It is for sure a LIGHT duty drill. With that said, i have used it from putting up mini blinds, to hanging pictures, to putting together and taking apart things around the house. I have owned the drill for about 3 months now, and it hasn't let me down. Adjustable speed (which always stays on max for me) isn't really needed on this drill because it's a small drill to begin with. Otherwise, good deal. For $10 more though you could buy the 18v version which is capable of way more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long Lasting Drill First one was a gift 10 yrs ago. Still works as a back-up but so happy to find it is still available! "Ready when you need it" and has all day power for this "lady do it your selfer"

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Cordless Screwdriver Bought this to screw in drywall screws. Works great. The 9.6 v power isn't enough to replace my drill for the big jobs, but for $30 it is a perfect compliment to my more powerfull tools for everyday household needs. Seems to have a long battery life.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sofar one plus and one negative Plus: It is easy to remove the battery either from the drill or the charger. I do not have large and very strong hands and have had to struggle to remove other batteries from their chargers. Negative: It has two lights. It takes overnight charging. But there is no green light so one never knows when it is fully charged. The red changes to orange when it needs six hours more of charging. I would have preferred to have a green light letting me know it is fully charged. Also my Black and Decker never took that long to get recharged.
