Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Railfan Excellent for the size and price!
Having worked and repaired/set-up the larger brothers of this saw (tool room variety) I made sure to check all the settings and alignments. I also bought additional blades i.e. the wider kind that has less of a tendency to wander.
I can cut strip wood - for model railway puposes - down to 1mm (.040") thickness. I cut any type of wood, brass, aluminium and plastics.
Yes, this one does double duty, both for the hobby and for the business , since they overlap.
Considering the size and the price: this saw can't be beat!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LeducIggy Solid Unit for Hobbies, buy a new blade
This is my 1st band saw. It had good reviews and good value so I picked it up. Setup is fast and simple. Light helps with blade shadows (40w bulb not included). Buy a new blade (59 1/2") right off the bat, the one it comes with (1/4" 6tpi) is that good in quality. I bought a 3/8" 6tpi blade to cut 2" solid Mahogany lumber and it did a great job (from home depot also). The old stock blade that came with it would 'skip' and not produce a good line. I saved me a lot of time vs. jig saw.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by gphd Basic design flaw - motor drive belt alignment
There was a lot of noise when I turned it on, and I found that the drive belt from the motor to the drive wheel was rubbing against the drive wheel gear, which had metal machine burs sticking out and cutting into the drive belt. There is no adjustment for belt alignment here, and the belt would wear out quickly. This is a basic design and production flaw.
Note that if the above were corrected, I would buy - a LARGER and more powerful version of - this machine.

Excelent value for the money. It uses readily available aftermarket blades available in a good range of thickness & width. Strong little motor will make it go trough hard exotic wood without slowing down. Blades guides a bit toutchy to adjust at first. Blade adjustement on the other hand is fairly easy, blade tracks very well. Table saw tilts and mitre gage pretty accurate. A very good tool overall.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wheelman Band Saw
This is an excellent band saw for small to medium projects. There is minimum blade sway and the cutting edge is extremely sharp and smooth. Depending on the thickness of the blade used you can cut up to 4X4's with limited loss of wood (due to Blade width)which leaves the surface of the cut ready to sand. The motor is a smooth running clean sounding machine

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TheMadPlaquer Good for general purpose
I purchased this saw and enjoy the power and ease of use, the unit is nice and compact and does not take up alot of space. Machine is realitively quiet and blade changes are pretty easy. The only down fall I found was that it does not come with a rip fence. This unit is perfect for crafters and the hobbiest.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cheesey Good so far
Actually purchased the saw so that I could spend enough to qualify for the 1 year no payment financing. I have used the saw a few times so far and have no complaints. I have not used it for any real kind of intricate detail work though. My workshop magazine does however give this band saw a very good review.

You can't go wrong with this saw, especially at the price point. Another good Ryobi benchtop tool that stores easily, runs great, and is easy to use. There is a little blade sway but with practice and proper set up this saw should perform well for years to come.
