This Cordless Edger was very simple to assemble and easy to operate. It is very lightweight and easy to operate. This edger is good depending on the amount of edging you have to do. The Battery will last for about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on how hard you are using it. I would recommend this more for a small to medium size yard.

I've never owned an edger, always using a string trimmer to edge my sidewalk and driveway. I saw this as a good online deal and ordered it. I've switched from gas to lithium ion for my trimmer, blower and chainsaw also. I have an acre, so the driveway is fairly long, as is the sidewalk. The battery lasts for all of it, plus most of my beds, and I have a lot of beds to edge. I did pick up a spare battery to swap when one dies, but the charge lasts a good long time. It does a great job of making things look neat and I don't miss the gas and oil one bit. I'm very pleased.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TXROB Does as good as a gas edger
I was hesitate to get a cordless edger. I do wish it had a guide so the blade doesn't hit the concrete. It has to spin up first a lot like gas powered but does great. Nice deep trench and clean edges. Pleasantly surprised and recommend.

Outstanding!!!!! This piece of equipment is exactly what a residential home owner should own if they like to have a neatly edged yard along their driveway, walkways, or patio. I wanted to purchase a gas powered head and an edger attachment, but they had these on sale for $80 when I bought mine. So I had to give it a shot. It is perfect. Exactly what is needed. It is not to under powered and not over powered for an average size residence. It takes me 5 to 10 minutes to accomplish my edging and battery power as never failed me. I have edged many yards in my life and I believe this device would be successful with a yard up to atleast a half acre. If you have a little growth of grass all you have to do is start it spinning before you place it where you need to edge. This is the edger all home owners should own.

I used the edger to zip through the side of my yard for cleaning up and for digging planting beds. It's alot easier than shoveling. The digging blades are thick and and have a curvy shape which is good for scooping up soil and small rocks, which it hurls into the air. It can be pushed easily in either direction. The motor is powerful so it gets the job done quickly and easily. It even cut through ivy, but it got caught in the blades. It also came with a 24 volt lithium battery and charger which can be used with other Ryobi attachments.

With DJD was looking for other options. I always owned gas 2 cycle. Product is easy to use and very light to handle. I saw no vibration. It cuts much better than my gas powered yard tools. True only takes an hour to fully charge. No cords or gas required. Needless to say after using this product have purchased or waiting on other Ryobi battery items which I wish I bought 38 years ago at age 20. Gave away all my 2 cycle gas products and will go with the Home Depot Ryboy. Home Depot is great, cheaper than other than other like stores and the free shipping cannot be beat.
(Guess not eligible for gjft card as do not own camera. No problem though)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Steve Baterry Powered edger
Does a good job edging small jobs. Battery life is only 15 -20 minutes although recharge is only about 30 minutes so you will need to organize how you work or have a spare charged battery. Need a little extra time on first pass to establish the edge trench but works well on successive uses.
Overall good value

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tom3 Color me impressed!
I really expected this to be horrible, especially since it's only 24V, but it's not.
Before using this edger I assumed it would only be good for touching up the edges and nothing more. My lawn hadn't been edged since last season which meant there was no defined edge and some areas were overgrown. I have about 200' of area where I edge.
Since the edge was in such bad shape I started it off at the shallowest of the four depth settings. After putting the edger on the edge I pulled the handle and nothing happened. The motor was obviously struggling to cut anything and I thought my expectations were justified. I then tilted the edger up a bit so the blade could start spinning and I slowly lowered it into the soil. From there I could slowly work my way down the edge, sometimes using a back and forth motion. I was able to edge all but about 4' that was completely overgrown.
I then followed it up with a second pass on the second depth setting and things went smoothly as well.
It's important to understand the limitations of this tool. It's not very powerful so you don't want to stress out the motor. If you find areas where it's too tough you need to ease it in by slowly lowering it into the edge or using a slow back and forth motion in tough spots. As with all edgers, this one works best when the soil is dry so don't try to use it for a few days after rain or watering your lawn.
There are a couple of drawbacks for me which made it lose a star. First, I own a 40v Ryobi cordless blower and when I saw the box indicated it could be used with the 40v battery I was elated, however the 40V battery I have for the blower does not fit on this tool. Second, there is no edge guide. The edge guide serves two purposes, it helps you follow the edge and it protects the blade from hitting the concrete which causes the blade to wear out faster. It would have been really nice if it had an edge guide.
Overall this far exceeded my expectations. If you don't have a lot of edging to do and don't mind it going slow the first time you edge this is a pretty decent edger and you don't have to worry about maintaining an engine or keeping mixed gas since most small engines are 2 cylinder. Even if you have a big powerful gas edger, this makes a great maintenance edger to use regularly instead of lugging out the big gas one.
