Answer:
There's a grey switch on the side of the unit. It slides up and down to turn it on/off.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 2.9 out of 5 by 52 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by work well. gets the work done with no problems Hi I see people complaining about this product that is noisy. it works good for me. it has a built in mini air compressor of course it make noisy. it's also only $20 bucks. if you want something more sophisticated home depot vast selection and more expensive one. but I guess you'll be complaining then about the price then. well bottom line is the product work good as it was designed. I have being trying it on different walls around the house and it grips just fine. Ohh I do not work for Ryobi nor Home depot I'm just a consumer. thank you January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by First one was defective, got a new one and works fine! Being 100% honest here, the first one of these that I bought was defective: the air pump didn't work, and if I recall correctly the laser wouldn't turn on either. I returned it. Later on I received a new one (was contacted by Ryobi customer support about my review, they sent me one), and it does what it says on the box: sticks to the wall, has a level built in, and puts out a laser in a straight line. For hanging pictures or shelves, it works just fine, and it's really easy to set up and use. I haven't tried it for anything else, so I can't comment, but so long as your project has room for sticking a coffee-cup sized disc to the wall on the side, this should do the trick. Hard to beat for the price, I think, but test it out in the parking lot (stick it to the inside window of your car) to make sure you've got a good unit. June 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No grip! This level will ONLY stick to a COMPLETELY FLAT surface. If there is any texture at all it will not stick, which renders is unusable! I bought this level to make stripes on my wall. I ended up having to tape it in the position I needed it. A complete pain in my bum. I also don't like how you can't use the laser without the LOUD suction screaming the entire time. If it weren't for that I would have been fine jimmy rigging it. So now I have a screaming laser level attached to a surface with tape on my wall whenever I want to use it. Look for something else. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Laser level I needed a cheap device to use as a level. it makes it easier than holding and working the tape measure or a large level. Product worked great. I am a home project guy, not a professional. I am sure there are better products available for the professional, but as the homeowner this was A+ June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great!!! Rocks!!!! This thing is amazing is simple cheap, but does the job and is easy to use. Some people are complaining about the noise of the mini air compressor, but it doesn't matter works well and sticks to any surface that I have try it. May 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good grip and easy to use Has a disc to use to attach to a non-smooth surface, and with my walls, this is very much needed. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Fantastic ! I've had this laser level for a few years now and I must say that it does a fantastic job. Done several different painting techniques and honestly I'm impressed every time I use it. No problem ever with suction, place it where I need it and it vacuums itself to the wall. May 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy equipment Ok item, does its job but way too noisy for an item that's small and that needs to be close to your ears. May 3, 2016
