Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Inaccurate I actually have an actual power analyzer that I tested this against. It is fairly accurate for heaters and light bulbs, but it is not accurate for inductive loads, such as fluorescent lights and motors. A fluorescent light fixture that read 22W (a 22W fixture) on a known good meter read 45W on this meter. Another meter called Kill-A-Watt also available at Home Depot gives much more accurate reading over a wide range of loads. I have an older version of Kill-A-Watt that Home Depot no longer sells and the reason I bought this one is that it retains kWh readings even if power is lost. The new Kill-A-Watt EZ they have at Home Depot does this fine and I recommend you get that one instead of this Ryobi one. May 5, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by a good buy This helps with calculating expenses with holiday light cost, or to see if appliances are really as efficient as the companys say they are. December 30, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Won't test low load devices From the manual, it states the test range to be 24-1800 Watts. That means anything under 24 watts will read as 0 Watts! That was my actual experience trying it. Useless for testing appliances in off / power save modes that may be using only a few Watts of power. September 2, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cheaper than kill-a-watt battery backup unit P3 international EZ unit Works fine for testing how much power you are using for each connected device. Enter your cost per kwh, plug it in the outlet, plug the device to the unit and walk away for a day. When you unplug the unit the battery backup allows you to sit at your desk instead of needing to use mirrors, stand on your head or other tricks to read the display while plugged in like some of the older meters required. Auto turn off feature saves the battery life. If it is not connected to a outlet the unit shuts off after a couple of minutes. The only thing that would make these units better is if the connection swiveled so you do not have to plug the meter in upside down on some outlets. November 24, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LCD give letter print out don't buy it When you go try to set KWH per hour, letters come up, so that you can't set up cost with numbers. Worthless, waste of money....don't buy it. February 26, 2014
