Answer:
No. You replace the whole head. Mine has lasted a month with a lot of usage. I finally broke the tip on one blade, but not sure when or where. This will last forever if you are just trimming weeds. I am trimming a little more than that-small trees, 3 foot tall weeds. Mine has still lasted with heavy useage.

No - the whole thing is disposable. They do not last very long if you are running them up against rock or stone. However, the are so easy to use - the lack of durability doesn't decrease the value.

As an experiment, I went to Home Depot in Roanoke TX and got a 0.095 inches string for $2 or so. Then I slid them through the gap. One end got it taught and the other end was slightly loose. So I took the green string that came with the Ryobi trimmer (out of the box) and inserted it on the end that was falling off at high rotational speeds.
Now the blunted, non-removable blade act like holders for the strings and now I have got a battery operated, no threading/stringing trimmer, and that works like the gas powered string trimmers. regards, ravi. Read Less

No, they are not replaceable, and they are also not durable. Being able to buy and easily replace the blades rather than replacing the entire head, would be a major improvement for this product.

The cordless trimmers that can use this bladed head are not designed to use 0.095 trimmer line. If you are currently using 0.065 line, you can upgrade to 0.080 twisted line. I hope this helps!

I use the string (you can buy 3 packs of them at Home Depot) for edging the lawn. The blade head seems to work best for chopping off big stringy/dry weeds or stalks or saplings. I'm really happy with mine and actually enjoy edging my lawn around the driveway and sidewalks for the first time now that I have a cordless trimmer.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy This Product Each blade was completely worn down before completing one trim of my yard. In big, bold letters are the words "Durable". I guess the Marketing Department must have tested this product on soft butter, not St. Augustine grass when deciding on the word durable. I own or have owned several Ryobi products over the past few years with good results, until I used this one. Today, while at my local Home Depot, I attempted to speak with a manager to show them the product along with my receipt showing where I purchased the product less than three weeks ago. After waiting approximately 15 minutes, I went to shop for the product I came for. If I could have spoken with a manager, I would have advised the product be removed from the shelves. I've never before seen such an inferior product at Home Depot and I've been a frequent visitor over the past 30 years or so. I'll still shop at Home Depot, but will definitely look at future Ryobi product purchases with a different perspective. BTW, a first time reviewer just to give you some sense of how upset I am about this product. If someone with Home Depot is reading this stuff, a photo of the trimmer heads and my receipt have been attached to this review. July 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by got was less out of it than expected Product was ok but definetely didnt hold up. Got about 2 uses out of it. Great idea, bad quality. May 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT BUY!!! Believe the other negative reviews on this product. Do not ignore them like I did. I have a postage stamp sized front yard. Trimming around the two trees, a few bricks, and edging the extremely short driveway and sidewalk ate up the first head in about 15 mins. Bought these since the auto feed function on my trimmer stopped working and I'd have to manually feed out more line every so often. These are a waste of money and I'm going back to the manual option since the trimmer/edger still works great. April 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very effective tool This attachment for my string trimmer was very effective at removing thick weeds in rocky areas of my 5 acre lot. Past efforts to remove the thick weeds in the rocky areas with the string was not very successful. The work was slow and used reels of string. I purchased a two pack and used one head during a 6 to 8 hours of cutting. The head successfully cut soft weeds up to 1/2 inch in diameter and more dense to woody weeds up to 1/4" in diameter. The trimer was not effective at cutting wood bushes but I did not expect it to. If the work area was had not been so rocky the head would have lasted much longer. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good cutting This is a nice design very easy to install and cuts clean. Keep the worn out one and add string back to it for use as a quick change temporary string head I just put a knot in some string and feed it through. Not as good as original but for backup July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I put this head to the test! It works well. I used this head on my Ryobi electric trimmer to cut down 4 foot tall weeds in an unused dog kennel. It worked very well. It doesn't cut in between the chain link wires like line would, but it didn't break, either. I bought this to maintain the electric fencing around my horse pasture. It works well for that. It does not cut down thick stems like burdocks, but it will cut grass and weeds up to 1/2 inch thick. I feel that this head has lasted through projects that would normally take 1 package of line. The only hard thing for this head was trimming around the small boulders that line my flower beds. The blades hit the rocks and do not cut where the line does. As long as you keep that in mind, this head will make your life easier. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of money If you are only cutting grass, no problem. I used up two of the heads in less than 15 minutes edging my lawn. The blades do not like to rub against anything and wear down very fast. Additionally, the head flew off of my trimmer three times (yes, I had it installed correctly). Complete waste of money. July 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible product While changing to these is a breeze, the quality of the product is horrible. Used this to trim around my fence (less than 100 feet) and both heads were destroyed after the first use. I will never buy these again. July 26, 2016
