Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 129 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sure beats climbing a ladder I got tired of climbing ladders with a chainsaw to prune the many trees on my property, and with the old manual pole saw, my arms were ready to fall off after a few minutes. So I picked up this attachment, and all is well. With the extension rod that comes with it, I can prune branches about 10 feet / 3m above my head, easily creating space for people and vehicles to get under. I highly recommend safety goggles or a face shield, as wood chips go everywhere and of course, cut branches tend to fall in your general direction. May 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi Pole Pruner Excellent tool. I was trimming an old black walnut tree, etc. My 2 year old Poulin chain saw is ready for the garbage, so a friend was coming over with his chain saw to help with the larger truck I needed to take down. He was late and I completed the smaller stuff I had to do. So I decided to put the new pole saw to the test and take down the 10" diameter trunk with the pruner. I undercut it, then cut a full 6" slice down one side of the truck. The truck was large but still did not fall. After going to the other side, the "pruner quickly cut the rest and it came down with a crash. I was so surprise that the little pruner did such a good job so quickly!! I highly recommend it. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Surprising I bought this only half expecting it to be useful. I was surprised that it cuts as well as it does. I expected it to hop around, or be flimsy with the extension on and its neither. It's not as if you can bear down on it, but you really don't need to, and shouldn't do it anyway. Very useful for pruning. My only complaint is that initially, I didn't think it was working right because you had to rev it up a lot before the chain started turning. Once I realized that's what is suppose to happen, i was cool with it. June 15, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cutting up with a Ryobi Product was used as an add-on to my old Ryobi 760 (>20 yrs old). Had to modify the attaching system, using the clamps provided. No snap on feature on my old unit. Flexible drive shaft has to be carefully inserted and the attachement head has to be firmly inserted into the extension handle. Head seems to be robust, and light !!! July 8, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good but leaves get stuck in the head i bought this to go with my ryobi 4 stroke 30cc trimmer. on the pakage it says that it cuts through trees up to 6 in,i cut a 26in tree with it(by going around the trunk). the one problem is, the head seomtimes catches leaves and jams. always use gloves and SAFTY GLASES b/c pieces of wood fly evrywhere while cuting. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well Have only used this a couple of times but does what is expected. Only thing I think would help would be a way to hold blade up off ground while it is being started. July 18, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best investment I've made this year. I was able to trim all my trees. This would have cost $500 by a contractor. Cuts smooth and reaches high. Includes a 3 year warranty.. Love It. September 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great little attachment Thought this was a cool gadget when I bought it and with Home Depot's easy return policy I figured I could return it, if it was just cool toy. It is not a toy, it is a full blown tool. But folks lets be serious here it is not going to make you a lumber jack!!! That being said; I did not give the Pruner 5 stars for two reasons; I own a couple of chain saws and am familiar with how much Chain oil they use and this little trimmer uses way too much. It went through the entire reservoir in under 10 minutes. While on the bright side it kept the chain nice and sharp. The Chain Guard for storage is JUNK and difficult to put on I have to figure out another solution. I found no issues others have reported about poor quality, not so at all. As for jamming, NOPE no problem either. As for stuff getting caught in the clutch area,,, not much at all. Cut through two 5 inch Dutch Elm bundles that I could not reach with my Chain Saw in just a couple of minutes. One was old and hard as a rock!! Overhead branches 2 and 3 inches in seconds. I have not had the need to use the add on extension yet but it will come into play in the future. All being said it is a great and useful tool. September 3, 2014
