CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 59 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This Trimmer Attachment Does The Task Well I purchased this trimmer to trim my 20, nine foot Leyland Cypress which in the past I have done with hand held scissor action trimmers or an electric corded trimmer. As stated in previous reviews my gas powered trimmer head combined with this attachment is a heavy handful but I am a slight (123lb) 63 y/o woman with arthritis so If I can do this, ANYONE can if they take their time. So far, I have trimmed the rear sides of the trees but can only work for 1/2 hour at a time - it's hot out there! The attachment easily handles the newer growth and if I encounter a 3/8th" branch it will eventually munch it in about 3 seconds so I utilize my long extension manual pole pruner for the thicker branches not to over-stress the capabilities of this trimmer head. Let me offer some advice for those who are trimming 'sappy' growth such as Cypress or pine, etc. Clean the sticky sappy residue off of the Ryobi trimmer blades after each use by brushing mineral spirits or paint thinner on the cutters, rinse, let dry and then oil the blades before each use. If you don't keep the blades clean, it will put hardship on the trimmer blades and the power head will suffer from overworking through the stickiness. I am posting a pre-trim photo of 14 of the 20 trees. So far, I am really pleased with this product and after I finish this project, I will post a follow-up photo The only daunting task ahead is getting high enough to safely trim the nine-footers down to 7 feet :) June 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Trims hedges as needed I was concerned it wouldn't fit my Homelite power head but it fit right on. Works well, very sharp. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent tool for blackberry bushes I bought this to slice and dice 1 year old 5' tall black berry bushes on a pretty steep hillside. It is attached to a Ryobi power head. I have used it for about 6 hours of cutting and it has worked as I had hoped. The pivoting cutting bar allows me to adjust it so that the bar is parallel to the ground even while standing up. It cuts through black berry vines, old and new, and sapling trees up to about 1/2" in diameter. It never stalls or jams so I spend all my time actually cutting instead of clearing jams or trying to restart it. The long handle means I'm a few feet back from the action so I'm not getting torn up by the blackberry thorns. Previously I have used the solid brush cutter attachment but it doesn't work as easily as this hedge trimmer - the hedge trimmer has a bigger cutting area so it can be swung like a scythe. I have also used a chain saw which works well but is heavy and dangerous and one has to be close in on the bushes to cut them so they fight back by mauling me with their thorns. Blackberry bushes are tangled and tough so it is still work but this is the easiest and safest approach I have found. June 1, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by round two Well the drive shaft in the hedge trimmer was broken, so I have ordered a replacement trimmer. I also bought the tiller attachment which had to be returned because the button that snaps into place to hold it onto the power head was broken, trying out the new one today. Won't recommend either one yet. On a good note the pruner and curved yard trimmer work well! Knock on wood! July 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed purchase I had the Lowes brand for 6 years before it wore out. I bought the Home Depot brand after reading reviews. When the HD came in I put on my machine and it bogged down with twigs. I returned the unit and bought the Lowes brand and have not been disappointed yet! July 22, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by not what was expected i think it would be better if it articulated the opposite way. it is not as good as your old fashion hand held manual or electric hedge clippers, for clipping hedges. though it does work well as a means to cut tall grass and weeds without clogging up a string trimmer head. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hedge Trimmer This trimmer does a very good job, cuts quick and smoothly. It is easy to adjust to different cutting angles and not too heavy to carry or use at arms length. July 14, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Effective for Clearing Small Brush Have only used for 2 or 3 hours so can't comment on durability. Bought this after a lot of research looking for a tool to cutting through heavy brush with vines interwoven. Compatible with a Husqvarna power head purchased from Lowes. The best tool I've found yet for cutting through vine entangled brush - normal brush cutting attachments get entangled in the vines. This is great for getting under masses of entangled brush and cutting through them. Handles vines and wild raspberry canes easily. Handles blackberry canes with some difficulty and struggles with wild roses but with some patience will gnaw it way through them. Have to watch out for small hardwood saplings (even those within the tools diameter limits) at it doesn't seem to be able to get through them very well and I suspect it will dull quickly if you try to gnaw through too may.
