Sure... as long as the motor shaft accepts expand-it accessories you could use anything from that line.

Answer:
It can only be used on the Ryobi units that are specifically designed to receive attachments. If your Ryobi weed eater can come apart at about mid shaft by releasing a clamping handle and pushing in a detent than yes it should work. To be on the safe side check your model number and ask the sales clerk if the attachment will work on your unit.

Hi wayner,
Yes, this attachment is compatible with all Ryobi split-shaft trimmers.
Since the curved section of shaft is removed and replaced with the straight shaft of the brush cutter attachment, the brush blade will work on your trimmer.

Answer:
No! It specifically shows/states not to install saw blades on it.
From a safety point of view, it cant be done safely.
If you do choose to do it that way, keep every living thing away when you do. Plus the motor is not strong enough to turn the RPM's needed for a clean cut. Ask yourself if you would use your skill saw to cut whatever you would do on the brush cutter with a saw blade.

Different tools for different jobs. If you want to seriously cut something using the expand-it power head, get the pole saw attachment. It cuts great!

Answer:
Yes, it is possible, but I strongly discourage you from doing so. That can be very dangerous. I have used that type of blade to cut away saplings. It is easy for that blade to get away from you. It is not at all forgiving! If you are cutting away small trees and very heave brush, a small chain saw would be my recommendation. It is more efficient and orders of magnitude safer!

I wouldn't say it would be impossible, if the attachment hole of the saw blade matches up to the shaft or if modified to do so then yes it might work. I don't think the trimmer would have enough toque to cut anything to heavy like a tree branch. Plus it would be somewhat dangerous. What if the blade comes shooting off !!!

No, and I certainly would not recommend it if you could. The existing blade is intended to cut with blunt force of the squared edge, much like the string cuts on a string trimmer. The blade is driven off of a cable, much like a speedometer cable. Putting a sharp edge on the existing blade, or a saw blade, would cause the blade to dig into whatever wood you might be cutting. That would over-tax the drive cable, and probably snap it. Not to mention that if a spinning saw blade were to come off, you or someone nearby would be headed to the hospital. As it is, sometimes the existing blade gets bound-up in wood if you are putting too much pressure on the trimmer, and you can hear the engine bog down as the blade loads up. The best way to work this tool is to let its high speed spin do the work for you, and just apply enough pressure that it is contacting uncut wood, and still maintaining a normal spin speed. The factory blade was never intended to be sharpened like a knife either. Read Less

Answer:
I've been able to attach it to two different Ryobi heads, a Cub Cadet head, and an Homelight head. I believe it's universal. The attachment drive is the male end (there is a small square rod inside the tube). All of the heads I have tried it on have a female square receiver inside the powerheads tube.

Well... you would because it would mean you have one attachment that would serve both needs. I have had "weed eaters" that did both before and they worked just fine both ways. So, is this answer a fact or opinion?

No. Why would you. If you had the Expand-it head, whether it be gas or 40V, the attachments are geared differently for different tasks. Buy the Straight string line trimmer attachment Model # RY15523. It's 60 bucks and works well. Be sure to order extra string line on-line as it's not carried in the stores yet.

No. The Toro 51480 is a electric trimmer that has a telescoping head. The shaft does not detach. 2 completely different tools. Look at the specs on line for your Toro trimmer. You're Toro trimmer is not made for attachments... from any manufacturer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Spectacular brush cutter when coupled with a Renegade 8" blade. This brush cutter attachment performs flawlessly. Order some Renegade blades and you can trim limbs, weeds and small trees up to 2" in diameter. The tri-blade that comes with it works well on brush and weeds only. July 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well for tall grass and weeds I have several "string" trimmer heads but they would foul-up in the long, straw-like grass and occasional weed that I have on a hill that is too steep to mow. This brush-cutter does exactly what it is supposed to, which is cut through that junk. It did not foul or clog up like the string-heads, although it did clog once or twice in really thick, two feet tall grass. And of course there are no strings to mess with but you will eventually need to sharpen the blade like the blade on a lawnmower. June 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really Like the Attachment I love this attachment, It doesn't throw the cuttings all over like a String trimmer does. (It does throw stuff, but not as bad as a String trimmer) Plus bonus is when cutting thicker weeds, note, I cut down bamboo shoots with this tool, cut with no problem. Glad I bought this attachment. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brush cutter It seems that the blade cutting edge should be sharper. It seems like it takes a little extra effort to cut small branches that should be easy to cut. July 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bought for a 2 cycle Ryobi shaft I have a 2 cycle Ryobi weed eater. I live in a ranch community. I bought this attachment and used it as soon as I got home. I'm very satisfied with this product. I cut small trees that were maybe a 1/8 of an inch thick (cut within seconds). Took it to the next level by cutting Unwanted plants with a 2 inch stem and about 5 foot long (cut under a minute). I cut 5 foot grass to have it "mower ready". I look forward to buying the blower and trim saw. Love it! June 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A real back saver. I puchased the Ryobi Exapand It 8" brush cutter to remove some small brush growing around my home. It does a quick job on small shrubs and trees that start to grow every spring. It saves the back from bending over using pruning shears. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Item This expand-it head fits both my Ryobi and my Toro giving me a lot of flexibility in the use of my trimmers. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it is supposed to very well I used this brush cutter attachment with my Toro power head and it was great. It easily cut the brush on my hillside; even some woody small sapling trees. It was less effective with just weeds but that might have just been my technique and unfamiliarity with brush cutting. I did grade it just average in quality as the first unit I received broke in the first 10 minutes; this might have been due to it being older shelf stock unit that was shipped. I returned it and picked a replacement myself and it has worked fantastic with no issues. June 18, 2016
