Sure... as long as the motor shaft accepts expand-it accessories you could use anything from that line.

Answer:
It can only be used on the Ryobi units that are specifically designed to receive attachments. If your Ryobi weed eater can come apart at about mid shaft by releasing a clamping handle and pushing in a detent than yes it should work. To be on the safe side check your model number and ask the sales clerk if the attachment will work on your unit.

Hi wayner,
Yes, this attachment is compatible with all Ryobi split-shaft trimmers.
Since the curved section of shaft is removed and replaced with the straight shaft of the brush cutter attachment, the brush blade will work on your trimmer.

Answer:
I would imagine it would all depend on how thick the bamboo is? If your talking full grown bamboo I don't thing it would, but again I don't live in an area where bamboo grows wild. It cuts heavy grass, twigs, vines, light brush, saplings, but not trees, stumps, heavy bushes, if not careful it will probably cut off fingers and toes.

My answer is a bit subjective while I am experienced with the Brush-Cutter Trim. Attachment I do have the 40V Roybi as one of my tools. Based with the conditions of my knowledge my opinion is as long the two parts are mechanically compatible there be a favorable functional tool. To solve that is to bring your unit to HD and, with assistance of a their assistant staff member the mechanical compatibility can be determined. Now what I think will be an issue is it takes a lot of torque to allow the Brush-Cutter to perform well. Depending on the type and thickness of brush will depend on the level of effectiveness for the attachment tool on the electric powered model. I sincerely hope this helped....Thank you//Dc Read Less

No! It specifically shows/states not to install saw blades on it.
From a safety point of view, it cant be done safely.
If you do choose to do it that way, keep every living thing away when you do. Plus the motor is not strong enough to turn the RPM's needed for a clean cut. Ask yourself if you would use your skill saw to cut whatever you would do on the brush cutter with a saw blade.

Different tools for different jobs. If you want to seriously cut something using the expand-it power head, get the pole saw attachment. It cuts great!

Yes, it is possible, but I strongly discourage you from doing so. That can be very dangerous. I have used that type of blade to cut away saplings. It is easy for that blade to get away from you. It is not at all forgiving! If you are cutting away small trees and very heave brush, a small chain saw would be my recommendation. It is more efficient and orders of magnitude safer!

I wouldn't say it would be impossible, if the attachment hole of the saw blade matches up to the shaft or if modified to do so then yes it might work. I don't think the trimmer would have enough toque to cut anything to heavy like a tree branch. Plus it would be somewhat dangerous. What if the blade comes shooting off !!!

No, and I certainly would not recommend it if you could. The existing blade is intended to cut with blunt force of the squared edge, much like the string cuts on a string trimmer. The blade is driven off of a cable, much like a speedometer cable. Putting a sharp edge on the existing blade, or a saw blade, would cause the blade to dig into whatever wood you might be cutting. That would over-tax the drive cable, and probably snap it. Not to mention that if a spinning saw blade were to come off, you or someone nearby would be headed to the hospital. As it is, sometimes the existing blade gets bound-up in wood if you are putting too much pressure on the trimmer, and you can hear the engine bog down as the blade loads up. The best way to work this tool is to let its high speed spin do the work for you, and just apply enough pressure that it is contacting uncut wood, and still maintaining a normal spin speed. The factory blade was never intended to be sharpened like a knife either. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceded my expectations Just bought a house and it had a privacy fence at the back that needed repair. Issue was behind the fence was overgrown so thick that you could even reach to do work. I believe it was cat nine tails (they had reached 7-8 ft in height) it cut through these with ease. Also had ivy running all through the growth, I was worried these would wrap up and bind the weed eater but had no such issue. On the first clearing of the fence line (it runs 150 ft) I focused mainly on cutting weeds. I went back afterwards and cut down saplings and know that while it takes more effort it will cut through 1" vines and saplings. One small note is that use a rake in tandem while clearing out this high of growth. Cut through then rake out of the way September 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Great with my 40-volt Ryobi weed whacker I read a review somewhere that said this attachment does not work with the 40-volt Ryobi, dual-line "attachment-capable" weed eater, but mine fit perfectly and within 3 or 4 minutes after opening the box, I was laying waste to all sorts of thorn bushes, small vines, heavy brush, and even small trees (1/2" to 5/8" stalks). And the best part is, after almost an hour of cutting, I had 2 bars left on my battery. The Ryobi battery system is SO much better than 2-stroke gas. I nicknamed my Ryobi gas-powered expandable weed eater the "Widowmaker" because I almost had a heart attack every time I had to start it. Even my teenage son screamed at it. Eventually, the pull cord broke and I tossed it out. But this electric beast really gets the job done. I have a 1-acre suburban lot with a wooded edge, and the brush keeps trying to creep in and take over. Not anymore. I've only had this for a week, but it seems to be well-built. It comes with a heavy handle assembly and a new shoulder strap, which I haven't used yet. The fence in the second photo was covered in vines, thorn bushes, and branches. Naturally, you have to be careful when clearing around a chain-link fence or other metal objects. September 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic product! I use it with my Ryobi 40 volt trimmer. Does a sensational job. All of my outdoor hand tools are now Ryobi 40 volt systems. No pulling on starter ropes any longer for gas engines. If I could figure a way to convert my ride-on mower to battery, I would, but am a bit away from that type application! Would be pleased to endorse these products at any time if requested or needed. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprisingly good attachment!! I have some small trees and brush growing in my back yard. I have been looking for an inexpensive way to remove them easily. I had bought a new Ryobi String Trimmer to replace another brand that was not working as well as it could. I discovered that the EXPANDIT system included the brush cutter. I ordered it online from Home Depot. It came quickly and worked exactly as they said it would, in fact I would say better. It mowed through everything I wanted to cut. It is a really great tool and well worth having. I was even able to trim so low hanging ground branches from my lilacs and hedge, some small unwanted trees as well. I am very happy with it, and very glad I bought it. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great on small brush and tall grass. Had to trim some overgrowth on a hillside at a home my wife was selling. My string line trimmer kept getting tangled up and bogged down in the heavy tall grass. Went to home depot to check out this attatchment and figured it had to be better than the attaatchment I was using. Boy was I right! It installs easily and sounds great when it gets up to speed. It cut through the tall grass and small brush without ever getting clogged. I was very please with the results and the amount of time this device saved me. Was well worth the cost. It's not going to cut down small trees but if you have small brush or tall thick field grass it will take care of it with ease. August 27, 2016
