Has anybody trimmed off that guide below the wheel? It makes it really have to keep everything moving along. I would have bought the Echo kit, but they do not carry it in stores, that seems like a better design.

Answer:
There a technique to it. This edger also requires some elbow grease. You need a good base first. Use a straight shovel to get rid of overgrow and to start your cut then use a straight trimmer to finish the edges. Once you get a good base, then use an edger. But not this one. It really is a bad design.

Answer:
Drbll, I had to trim my guide down by about an inch. Mine to was too long and dug into the ground instead of allowing the attachment to move along properly. I used a hacksaw and a file to smooth the edges.

Answer:
I know it uses the Ryobi Expand It family of attachments which fit both Ryobi gas and electric Ryobi models. And since the gas models accept universal attachments then it should be that the RY 40220 electric will as well.

It will be hard to answer the question completely without having the Hasqvarna model number you have or plan to have. Several of the Hasqvarna models will accept attachments from other manufacturers but as stated before it will depend on the model and size of the shaft.

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 234 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overpriced for the quality I bought the Ryobi edger attachment RYEDG11 from HD for $70 during Aug. 2016. This tool is not well-built. I think it's overpriced considering the poor quality. It was hard to operate and run along the edge. There is a metal guide that sticks down too far into the edge and prohibits the tool from rolling smoothly along the edge. I ended up cutting off the metal guide. Also, the plastic housing around the edger blade tends to get clumped up with dirt, mud, and trimmings. I ended up cutting away about two inches from the rear of the housing, which alleviates that problem a bit. Nonetheless, with my two modifications, the edger works better now. September 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to assemble, easy to work with. Did a great job quickly. October 30, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Works, but I will be returning it. My 20 year old McLane edger had recently failed and I wrongfully chose this and a Ryobi 2 stroke power head as its replacement. While the quality seems fair after only one use, I found the operation to be very messy, tiresome, and difficult. The unit does not glide along the edge with ease as many others have stated. The cut this unit leaves behind is poor. The "teeth" on the blade are already showing wear after one cut. Even with the highest adjustment I was unable to get the edge I wanted. Keep in mind that my edges are already there and I was not using this on a lawn that has not been edged in forever. I will be returning this after only one use. Home depot shipped fast as always and my online shopping experience was great. September 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful Machine The gauge on the edger near the wheel makes it a little harder to navigate. October 22, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well...with a little effort I bought this as I was tired of using a string trimmer to edge our lawn next to the sidewalks and wanted a more finished look. It took charging up the battery three times in order to finish my lawn the first time - mostly because it had a lot of work to do to clear out the grass and dirt around the edge of the lawn. It didn't quite have the power to run continuously under the workload, either, so it kept stopping after every few feet. The second time I edged the lawn, it was a different story since the first time cleaned up all of the debris - I was a able to edge the entire lawn with one battery charge and it didn't bind up at all. Overall, I am happy with the product. August 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to switch out I use this with my Ryobi s430. 3 minutes to swap out and works great for trenching. Creates a nice gap. October 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not powerful enough when used with 40v head I purchased this product considering the convenience of the attachments that are available. I used the attachment with my 40v head. I would not recommend using this attachment for edging grass that has not been edged or that has not been edged in a long time. It cannot handle a large amount. Even with the 40v head with this attachment continuously cuts out. I have 3 different size batteries and it wears them down immediately. I would definitely go with a gas powered edger. September 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Significant improvement from previous model This is a replacement of an EXPAND-IT edger. It is made by Ryobi (RYEDG11)instead of Homelite (UT15518E). The design looks like the Homelite model, but significant change in quality, and improvement. The blade is 9" long with cutting teeth instead of straight edge, the height adjustment is better, the wheel and blade guide works better than the old model. September 28, 2016
