Which attachments work and how many Ah is the battery pack that comes with this kit?

I already have the gas version with attachments but want to switch over to Li-Ion battery power. I'm confused because there seems to be a version that can use BOTH the gas-powered attachments AND the specific cordless attachments. Is this able to use both types of attachments, or does this require the cordless specific attachments? (Will the gas-powered attachments I already have work with this tool?)

Secondly, how many Ah is the battery pack that comes with this kit rated? Thanks.

Answer:
I have edger and trimmer, but other attachments are available (like a chainsaw). My battery, which came with the set, is 94wh, so I guess it can push about 2 amps for an hour. A stronger battery is available and I'd recommend it. And regardless, hang onto your warrantee; my battery lasted less than a year with vry moderate use.

Hi Moto. The Expand It series attachments will work with the power head in question on the RY40222CMB. The battery pack is rated as having 2.4 amp hours. The model numbers are unknown for your attachment and I cannot confirm if they will fit. The trick is to align the arrows with the holes where the lines come out of the head. (And if done correctly, you don't have to remove the large red "screw nob" on the bottom.) Arrows are faintly engraved on the rotating head, and I did not see at first. So align it, then push down firmly on the red "screw nob" to release or remove the old scrap line, pushing down on nob and pulling out on one side of the line, until you get the old line out. Putting new line in is much easier...
So to put new line in, align arrows like before, then feed your 8 feet long line into one hole and the feed will go through to other side, "like magic". Then with 4 ft of line sticking out of both holes, start rotating the head in the direction shown on head engravement, until your line is sticking out a few inches and you are ready. Read Less

Expand-it 40-Volt Straight Shaft Lithium-Ion Cordless Trimmer with Edger Attachment is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK product I wanted to replace my smoke belching gas powered string trimmer. The edger was an after thought. The trimmer is heavier and more clumsy to use that my gas one and it is far from quite but it does an ok job. The edger is just to under powered to do much. It shuts itself down after about 4 feet of edging but then will start going again in about 30 seconds. Very hard to use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excellent Trimmer, Edger Attachment falls short. The cordless trimmer is fantastic, could not recommend higher, however the Edger attachment kept stalling in practical use, was not strong enough in heavy st. augustine grass and dirt. Would recommend a stand alone gas edger for power and stability and nice edging. Returned the whole package though I wish I could have just kept the trimmer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good so far So far so good. The trimmer is perfect for my small lot. I've used the edger once so far in wet conditions which is not recommend and it worked fine. Also used the hedge trimmer attachment and that also worked great. Overall the product is exactly what I needed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ryobi trimmer I LOVE IT! After a while it does get a bit heavy due to the battery, but works great in both hands! Battery does last a long time, but looking to get another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Power is equal to gas and I can run for long enough on a charge to both edge and weed whip my lawn. Pretty impressive on only one battery

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's electric. Not gas. Don't expect too much. C'mon, guys: you know this isn't "gas-like" power. The trimmer string is thinner than gas-powered trimmer string, so right off the bat, there's a clue. The trimmer is handy, but heavier than I'd expected; it's ok for quick/light jobs, but my wife doesn't want to use it. The edger is way underpowered - despite the narrow blade: I get about 8-15 feet before it shuts down because the load is too high (then restarts), and about 60 feet before it needs to be recharged. (And I'm not talking about heavy overgrowth - just normal centipede edging, which I do a few times each season.) And the battery went defective after one year (another $100-$139 investment? or forget it?) And when I fire up my Echo gas tools - which always seem to start and have so much more power - I guess I have my answer. I don't know why I keep buying into these battery things (well, they are convenient, and cool, and work well for things like drilling....) I have about every 18v Ryobi attachment they sell, don't use them for heavy work, and go through at least three batteries a year on those - at least $100 a year for convenience. But I was hoping for more from the 40v "gaslike power" tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery-Powered Edger / Trimmer Will Replace Your Gas-Powered Equipment This trimmer / edger is well built, relatively lightweight and easy to use. The motor provides ample power for trimming thick grass and weeds. The power of the edger attachment was a very pleasant surprise. It took two passes to complete the first edging; adjusting the edger blade to go a bit deeper on the second pass. After that, edging has been a quick single pass. The battery has never gone below 50% after edging / trimming for about 30 minutes in my yard. If you want to do away with multiple gas-powered tools and you have a normal size yard, this tool is the way to go. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than enough power I bought this combo on sale for about $200. At the time it was only $20 more than the trimmer alone, so it was a no-brainer for me. After two hard uses, I would recommend this product without hesitation. The battery charges quickly and usually still has about 75% charge after trimming and edging my small yard. I was pleasantly surprised with the power. It bogs down less than my old 2-stroke and is much quieter. It's also noticeably lighter. The best thing about it is that I no longer have any 2-stroke gas/oil mix or maintenance to deal with.
