Rated 2 out of 5Â by dan27 harbor freight model is half the price works better than this
At first appeared to be a good buy. pointing heater vent it appears to be doing it's job but that's all it does well. It is very inconsistent I got a range of +- 10â on my hot water pipes every time I test same with the Windows I can test the same spot over and over agian and it's a different reading everytime. Has to be held at exactly 8in if it's even a 1/4 inch closer or farther it reads incorrectly and I believe that's why it's so inconsistent, the margin of error is far to small for the human eye. Works better if u tape a pencal to it and cut it to 8 inches so you can log consistent data at an 8 inch gap

Rated 5 out of 5Â by HankM Excellent IR Thermometer
The IR thermometer is easy to use and I found it to be more accurate than the specs rate it. Just point and shoot. The red laser pointer illuminates the targeted area. Very simple to use and read.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by DesertDude Did not cut it for me.
The first disappointment I encountered was the difficulty of placing the battery in the unit. Very tight fit.
So, as most people will probably do, I started taking the temperature of everything. First, all seemed good as it was close range and in the house. When I went outside though, I noticed the laser was "left of center". The farther away the object - like siding or eaves of the roof - the more noticeable the issue was.
Then, I wanted to get a before and after sunset ( I didn't think of this when purchasing it ) and that was the last straw. No back light.

Accuracy is a little questionable. If you are doing a quick sample of a cold, or hot spot it works, but not is you are looking for accuracy.
