I have a 40V edger/trimer model number of RY400014. We can not find the manual to see what kind of feeder it has? Bump/auto feed/ advanced auto feed/ etc... Will this work with my edger?

also.... Can you rewind/reuse these Cartridages? My Question is If I chose to go back to winding my own lines, can I use the Twisted (yellow) line with an old single (blue) line spool? & visa versa??

and lastly.... I saw the twisted yellow line spools will they also work with my edger??

Thank you so much!

Answer:
The blue and twisted line should both work with your model. I don't think that rewinding is worthwhile with the economical cost of the replacement.

ONE+ 0.065 Spool (3-Pack) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 146.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ryobi three pack string spools for trimmers When I first bought my Ryobi string trimmer, I purchased about two of the three pack string spools to replace my empty cartridges. While they work outstanding, I can't recommend them due to the absurd price. Each cartridge has about 16 feet of spool for a total of 48 feet that costs about 20.00. For about 8.00, you can buy 275 feet of trimmer line and wind it around the empty cartridges yourself. Takes no time at all. Before I discovered this fact I had wasted a lot of money on the 3 pack cartridges. Most of the cost is paying for the cartridges which I guess most people throw away when it is empty. Do yourself a favor and save some money by keeping the cartridges when empty and rewinding it yourself. For less than half the cost of the three pack spool, you get six times more line. You do the math.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk. As others have mentioned, they're wound terribly. Be prepared to stop, pull out the spool, and hand feed the next length of string - EVERY SINGLE TIME. If I didn't need the spools I'd have taken them back. Absolutely terrible.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Time consuming Easy to load, the line break and are melted into each other making for a longer process with stop and go usage. I purchased this product from more then one Home Depot store. It did not matter the same problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from String trimmers are a pain The main problem with all these trimmers is the supreme waste of the string which breaks constantly. My lawn is littered with small pieces of blue plastic. Once the grass debris gets all around the releases, it's hard to push in the release tabs and remove the top to thread the string. The automatic feed has never worked and this is not an old trimmer ( less than 1 yr old). Again, this seems to be the issue regardless of brand, not singling out Ryobi. Regarding the recommend buttons above, there should be a "maybe" or "possibly", not just a yes or no.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Ryobi One+0.065 spool, is used in the Ryobi One + 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Hybrid Electric Cordles... The Ryobi One+0.065 spool, is used in the Ryobi One + 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Hybrid Electric Cordless String Trimmer/Edger, which continues to advance the spool while using, and this causes the spool to run out faster. Additionally, the string trimmer continues to sputter when it's held in a certain position while it's trimming or edging, and this is tends to be a problem with this particular model, because this is my second exchange for the same model and it sputters exactly like my first purchase! I have used this particular brand for 1.5 years now because the newer models of most electric string trimmers have a wheel guide attached to it that is absolutely useless. I have never been happy with The Ryobi One and this purchase does not meet my expectations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 0.065 String is very weak, snaps off often & retreats into spool housing. Constantly have to stop... 0.065 String is very weak, snaps off often & retreats into spool housing. Constantly have to stop work, upend the unit, open the housing and re-thread the spool. This problem is exacerbated by the spools being cross-wound which causes binding during the feed process, and as far as I can figure, the spools are also wound while the string is still hot, causing it to 'weld' to itself on a previous 'wind'. Again the String housing must be opened and the string literally pulled and torn from itself. One spool was so frustrating, I sat down and totally unwound it and re-wound it to get past all the 'hot welds'! Still, it often bound-up. NOTE: Sad to say the heavier string which is also 'twisted' performs no better. THE STRING IS THE WEAKEST PART OF AN OTHERWISE OUTSTANDING MACHINE.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly good The only issue I have with this spool is that the string sometimes sticks to itself and has to be manually pulled out. Probably due to warm weather, but then I suspect most string trimmers get stored outdoors in the summer. I had the same problem with my former string trimmer that used a similar spool.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weed Eater String not right We normally buy this string. We love how easy it is to use etc.... Works great. This time the string had changed and was 2 thin strings twisted together. We had issues with it. Not sure if all of our issues were the string or maybe our seedeater but....It was not the normal stuff we like.
