Home Depot has been running a special on the latest Large Ryobi Batteries set of 2 for $50...about 1/2 price. I don't think they have the impact driver with the battery. I use the batteries for Drill, weed eater, flash light and impact driver.

This driver is only sold as a standalone upgrade item apart from the kits. The kits have to remain cost competitive and the market for this more powerful full featured impact driver is smaller, mainly the professional users and those willing to pay extra for the upgrade power and features.

This uses standard 1/4" hex bits which are now an industry standard so you can buy kits with impact driver bits from any number of sources. In all honesty, I usually buy the bits for these from Harbor Freight but a good starter kit can be had from Home Depot for around $20. You don't need to be brand specific with the bits, the industry standardized them several years ago.

Impact rated bits work best for this tool. I have been using regular driver bits with some success. They do tend to get chewed up in this tool, but I knew that already. Once I use up the driver bits in my Ryobi bit set, I will go to Home Depot and get the black impact rated Ryobi bits in the green case. I recommend the black impact rated Ryobi bits.

The driver has a collar that is pulled back and only accepts drill bits with hexagonal quick change shanks. Once fully inserted, the collar click back into place and locks in the bit. You can't use a bit with a standard round shank in this driver.

Hello Jifro, glad to help. You just need to use a hex head bit & place it into the head & push back into the head till you hear a click. Good to go then. If it is a little tight being new, push the release collar forward a little to seat the bit & release. Hope this Helped.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 313 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT PRODUCT!! I was a bit reluctant to purchase this item because of the price compared to the Milwaukee and Dewalt (less expensive) but I figured i would try the Ryobi if i hated it I would return it, after a few projects I love it. I do many types of projects and the impact amazes me everytime I use it. See my builds @oljubal on instagram March 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great quality, affordable value. This impact driver is a great value. It gives the torque needed to do most tasks around the home and beyond. My first project was putting up shelves in my garage. Without a bit of hassle, it drove long screws into the wall holding everything tight, and with precision. Be sure to go easy when pulling the trigger though. It packs a punch, and can get jumpy if you're not quite ready or in position to go. Some may disegard Ryobi tools as cheap, but I find them affordable as well as valuable around my home. I'll continue purchasing them as necessary to compliment both my 18V and 40V tool selection. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little tool! My original Ryobi comb kit come with the impact driver and I really didn't miss not having one until I used a friend's... I imediimmediately went to Home Depot and got my own! Used it building stairs for my deck and can't believe how great it performed. July 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Can't live without it This thing is incredible driving screws working on lawnmowers and atv's great lightweight impact..ONLY complaint is the stupid LED lights that turn on AFTER the bit is turning totally useless if you could turn them on beforehand .better idea don't put them on the tool and lower the price July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love This Compact 1/4 Inch Impact Driver - My GO TO Tool! This is my go to tool 90 % of the time. I use it to drill & to drive & it feels great in one's hand! Used to drive 3 to 6 inch HeadLok Bolts in while building my shed. Never Flinched! Took all I threw at it 7 then some! This is such an awesome tool it also drives 1/4 hex head bolts with no problem or need of an adapter if you so choose to do it that way. Powerful! Period. September 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great addition to my tool bag! I bought this driver after owning an older Ryobi drill for years. Not sure how I got by so long without it. It is powerful and easy to handle. This driver, along with the new batteries, is a great value. Recently used it to build my shed with a metal roof. Working very well so far! June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impact Impact with a punch. I do a lot of home repairs and my friend and I both have Ryobi tools he has the blue and the minute you pull the trigger on the new green you can feel the amount of torque this has great upgrade from the 1st Gen . blue love the light only kink is would be nice if the would come on at a moments touch and stay on for a few seconds but just a minor inconvenience. Thanx Ryobi June 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very impressed. I recently purchased this impact driver because I somehow managed to misplace my last one. After driving the first screw, I immediately noticed the difference between this one and the older model. This tool is considerably more powerful than the one I was using before. I was only using 1 1/4" screws for the project I was working on, so I had to try some 3" screws in the basement. I screwed a 3/4" block to a stud and it had no problem with it. We use Bosch tools at my shop, and this tool drives the screws just as well and just as fast. The only other test will be how well it will hold up over time, but for $70, I am very pleased with this tool. December 30, 2012
