I Bought it as a spring gardening gift for my sister. It arrived on her doorstep by mail the following day. She loves it ! I also gave her one of my extra Ryobi batteries and her gardening this year is fun fun fun. She loves the way it prepares the soil for planting. It is light weight and you don't have to bend over to get the job done. Can't wait to get samples of her salsa this summer !

The Ryobi 18 volt cultivator kit works excellently when used as intended. It really isn't intended for breaking up hard soil, but rather for keeping soil loose and aerating between plantings of small to medium sized gardens. The kit comes complete with one of the small black batteries and the black charger. I highly recommend using the larger 4ah batteries for better performance and longetivity. The tines are replaceable and the handle adjusts to different heights and angles to suit just about any user. The 7 inch cultivating width is perfect for getting in between rows of plantings. I personally used a large tiller to prepare my garden, and then use the Ryobi cultivator to maintain it. The soil here is pretty hard though, and trying this cultivator in other soils I found that it can work just fine on its own if you have soil that is more loose in your area. The only downside to this cultivator is that the plastic covers which hold the O-rings around the output shafts tends to break easily. Other reviewers stated this, and in the 2 units I purchased, one of them had the issue. It doesn't seem to effect the operation of the cultivator however, and I don't worry about it too much since the operation seems fine.

I needed something to till my soil in order to plant grass seed. As I have a srinkler system, I could not use a rotortiller. This little Ryobi cultivator did a great job! It took a little time, but worked the soil well.

I'm just glad the cultivator worked, even though the battery was shot!

I guess it's made for super light work in already tilled dirt. I bought this last year and did ok for tilling between rows and other simple tasks. But this spring I was using it for simple tilling, I already pulled the vegetation and had turned the ground. I got about 1/2 way through my small garden and it snapped.
That's $100 I'll never see again.....

I have been dreaming of having this type of cultivator for as long as I have had my garden. I never thought this dream would come true.
The shipping came to me in 1 day via Fedex. Really fast.
As soon as it came I took everything out of the box. Then I put the Lithium Ion battery on charge. Both were included. Then I put on the handle. Easy. I had trouble with pulling the hitch pins that hold the 2 cultivator tines and needed help taking them off the protective cardboard shield and putting them back on with the tines.
Then we went out to the garden for a test run. They plowed through the dirt so well. It will make my season of planting and weeding so much easier.

I assembled this cultivator quickly and easily, without the use of directions. I charged the lith ion battery (about 45 minutes) and put it to work on a small garden plot in my yard that was overrun with weeds. The cultivator worked well and was comfortable to handle. It removed the weeds and broke up the soil down to about 6 inches. After running it over the plot several times, it left the dirt finely broken up and ready for planting. Running at full speed, the battery lasted about 15 minutes, which was all I needed. The cultivator worked well for this fairly small application, but I wouldn’t recommend it for larger gardens or where the soil is severely compacted.
