I'm currently in the field in a remote access area with this tool (writing this review via satellite internet). It broke on me today. I was relying on this tool which was clearly a mistake. A lot of money was invested in getting me here along with building materials and this tool failed after only 2 days of use in the field (it was stored properly in a waterproof case, treated well).
I've been using it to drive bolts into wood (pine and spruce), the longest bolts I've been using are 5" x 5/16". It spins fine under no load, but as soon as there is a bolt in the socket it's a total toss up. Sometimes it works for 1 second, sometimes for 3. Then it stops dead, I have to reconnect the battery, and then it stops again. For a 5" bolt I have to do this about 10-20 times.
I haven't had such a horrible experience with any other ryobi tools but I'm so utterly disappointed in the performance of this product it will steer my away from ryobi in the future.
Just wanted to try and prevent anyone else from having a similar experience.

It was on my list as a Christmas gift after I had read the reviews,. I'm not disappointed! Used it yesterday to fix my trailer, then loosened 20 lugs on my truck, motorhome and car with no problems. It still has power and was not a fully charged battery when I tried it, might have to sell my breaker bars.

I bought this impact wrench based on the reviews on here. The store with the upside down red triangle had some good sales on, but I have come undone before when I bought a battery powered impact wrench, so I wanted to make sure I got one which could definitely do the lug nuts on my wheels. I bought the impact wrench and then because it had no battery or charger I bought the drill/circular saw/torch combo pack which was $99 so for $250 taxes in I got the impact wrench, drill, saw and torch complete with a battery and charger. Pretty good value to me! When I got back I put the battery on the impact wrench as I thought it might come with a bit of juice in it but it didn't manage to undo the lug nuts. So I stuck it on charge and sure enough once it had enough battery it managed to undo the lug nuts with little bother. I tend to torque my lug nuts to 130lbs and the impact wrench took literally 2-3 seconds to free them up and then they spun right off. For a battery powered impact wrench and a reasonably priced one at that, so far I'm very happy with it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by None Bargain if you already have One+ batteries and charger!!!!
90 lb/ft lug nuts on the car took 1 second and 150 lb/ft lugnuts on the new F150 took 2-3 seconds.
Already own some One+ stuff from over the last 10 years and figured for $100 I would return it if it did not do what I needed.
More compact in my hand than I expected too - not much bigger than their 1/4 impact driver! Just heavier due to the bigger hammer in the nose.
Already better than I expected and a cheap way to dip my toe in the water about wanting cordless and electric to replace needing a big new air compressor in my home shop.
Very satisfied with my new purchase - hopefully it holds up to hobbyist automotive use.

I had seen some reviews saying that this impact would not remove even 55 ft lb torqued lug nuts. I tested it at the store and felt it would do the job. I got it home and CHARGED the battery, after which I tried it on my Jeep, I keep the steel wheels on my Jeep torqued to 110 ft lbs (with a torque wrench), and it took all four of them off without any hesitation at all. I rotated all 4 tires ( had to loosen and then retorque, torque was too high), then took the wheels off of my wife's Honda to change the brakes, removed and reinstalled all 4 tires without any hesitation at all. That makes a total of 8 tires removed and replaced on one charge and no problems at all with the amount of torque

I bought this as an addition to my nunerous Ryobi 18v tools and batteries. My intention, was to use it occasionally while working on my vehicles. This summer, I started carrying it, two batteries, and a charger while towing our travel trailer. Labor Day, I had a flat on or travel trailer in extremely heavy traffic. I always had a mental plan what I would do in case of a flat someday, including the appropriate sockets and a fresh charge on the batteries. I was able to use this 1/2" impact to raise the jack, remove and replace the tire/wheel, and lower the trailer. The process took 15 min. tops. A Highway Patrolman pulled up and offered assistance, but all I needed was help keeping traffic from hitting the vehicles. As I in tossed all the tools etc. in the trailer as I finished, the patrolman said he hadn't seen a tire changed that fast on the road side. I showed him the impact and he said he was going to buy one for the many times he helps stranded motorists. It was a huge asset that day, and paid for itself many times over. Every minute counts when perilously parked on the side of the interstate in heavy traffic. I totally recommend this to anyone that pulls a multi-axle vehicle. It also works great in thr garage!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brian Great value but chuck is garbage..BUT there is a replacement!!!
I agree with others that the tool is a greaqt value but does have a fatal flaw. The 1/2" to 1/4 hex coupler is junk and will break if you use this tool to screw with. But I have found a wonderful replacemnet by Dewalt that does the job and is even better.
DEWALT DW2298 1 2-Inch Square Anvil to 1 4-Inch Hex and its even made for impact tools. Its $7 and can be found online or most home improvement stores.
Hope this helps, Brian
