Customer Questions & Answers

If it is the Ryobi impact wrench, 18 volts, it will work. I purchased an impact wrench and tried it one time. It removed a wheel lug that I was not able to do it manually with the wrench that comes with the car.

What is the difference between an impact wrench and a impact driver?

Asked by: Becki
An impact driver is used for screws typically, impact wrench is for large, more difficult fasteners (think automotive)

Customer Reviews

ONE+ 18-Volt Impact Wrench (Tool-Only) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 140.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely junk I bought mine roughly a year ago for use in building demolition derby cars it's ok for removing small bolts when it does work and it will remove lug nuts as long as you break them loose with a breaker bar first and spray the studs with penatrating oil I can almost install one lug nut before it quits then I have to take out the battery and reinsert it for the impact to work again about the third time going through this I get aggravated and just use a lug wrench I tried several times to resolve the issue but I was told in the end it was my fault for misuse of the tool that what I was using it for wasn't it's intended purpose and that there wasn't nothing that could be done so lessons learned on my part I guess I am no longer a ryobi customer I have ordered the Milwaukee fuel impact I hope this Is a better tool

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased to use with my rock crawling Jeep. I had seen some reviews saying that this impact would not remove even 55 ft lb torqued lug nuts. I tested it at the store and felt it would do the job. I got it home and CHARGED the battery, after which I tried it on my Jeep, I keep the steel wheels on my Jeep torqued to 110 ft lbs (with a torque wrench), and it took all four of them off without any hesitation at all. I rotated all 4 tires ( had to loosen and then retorque, torque was too high), then took the wheels off of my wife's Honda to change the brakes, removed and reinstalled all 4 tires without any hesitation at all. That makes a total of 8 tires removed and replaced on one charge and no problems at all with the amount of torque

Granted it is rated at 200lb ft/tq, it actually outperformed my other impact wrench, which is rated at 300lb. It is well made, and solid, paired with high capacity battery, very highly recommended!

When I say I have almost every single battery tool Ryobi makes (minus lawnmowers but do have trimmers etc) I really do and have for almost 20 years now with well over 20 high cap batteries so needless to say I LOVE Ryobi tools period. The Ryobi rep at my daily Home Depot Store probably dreads seeing me. Anyway to the tool. It IS the worst purchase I have made. It kicks out and and simply will not drive the lag bolts i need it too. We do use it to take lug nuts off though. But other tight bolts it will kick out and the smaller impact typically will break them free which is sad . I should have taken it back the first time it did it but now I am past warranty time. Maybe I got a bad tool, I know once I bought some bad lith. batteries and had to swap those. Still waiting for the cordless framing nailer , They have them so I am told but are working shrinking them down some. It will be the final tool in my trucks that is not Ryobi brand. ( cordless belt sander coming soon !!! ) Sooner or later I will buy the new version 3 speed of the 1/2 inch impact. Hopefully with better results

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bargain if you already have One+ batteries and charger!!!! 90 lb/ft lug nuts on the car took 1 second and 150 lb/ft lugnuts on the new F150 took 2-3 seconds. Already own some One+ stuff from over the last 10 years and figured for $100 I would return it if it did not do what I needed. More compact in my hand than I expected too - not much bigger than their 1/4 impact driver! Just heavier due to the bigger hammer in the nose. Already better than I expected and a cheap way to dip my toe in the water about wanting cordless and electric to replace needing a big new air compressor in my home shop. Very satisfied with my new purchase - hopefully it holds up to hobbyist automotive use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value but chuck is garbage..BUT there is a replacement!!! I agree with others that the tool is a greaqt value but does have a fatal flaw. The 1/2" to 1/4 hex coupler is junk and will break if you use this tool to screw with. But I have found a wonderful replacemnet by Dewalt that does the job and is even better. DEWALT DW2298 1 2-Inch Square Anvil to 1 4-Inch Hex and its even made for impact tools. Its $7 and can be found online or most home improvement stores. Hope this helps, Brian

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Strong I wasn't expecting much from an electric impact wrench, but this thing has some power. It busted loose ten lugs that were rusted in place on my boat trailer. When trying to loosen by hand the studs spun. One hit with this impact wrench and off they came. Not having to break off ten lugs was worth the price of this impact wrench alone.
