Warranty for Compact Battery P102

This question is from ONE+ 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Battery
Asked by

Hi. I purchased a couple of these batteries with a charger in a tool package last year. One of the batteries already reads defective when I put it in the charger. I haven't used it all that much, so it seems that it should not even be close to being used up yet. The life of this battery in months seems much less than even a NiCd one plus battery. Does it have any sort of warranty or replacement options?

Thanks.

You don't. The batteries have three leads, not one per cell like you need to balance the cells in a battery. That's an interesting question but I'm not sure I've ever seen a tool battery with leads for balancing, unless some of the packs with integrated electronics are able to balance themselves.

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 144 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by They are unreliable I have gone through 2 of these batteries so far. The original one that came with my weed trimmer stopped working and would not hold a charge the year after buying it. I was told it was not covered. I bought a second replacement battery (this one in the picture) and the exact same thing happened. Plugged it in this spring to trim the edges and it wont charge. Brought it into one of the Ryobi warranty guys local and he said it went due to the circuit board most likely. Ryobi said it was under warranty and could confirm the date it was made but refused to cover it because I did not have the receipt of purchase. I refuse to spend money buying a new battery every year because they are made defective! Plus, they confirmed the battery manufacture date but still wont cover it. I am done with these. April 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by total Junk! I bought a three tool set and although I like the tools (blower, skill saw, weed wacker) the batteries suck out loud!! They quite talking a charge after a few months at best. I have replaced 4 of these and like other reviewers I will continue to take these back as soon as the quit. April 18, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Works with my screw gun perfect but it not takeing change with my charger. So i Work good with my screw gun perfect but didn't work with my charger So i return it. August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replaced original battery The original battery lasted over two years. The replacement was about half the cost of a new blower. So far, I am satisfied with the performance of the new battery. August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worthless product USED THIS BATTERY TWICE AND IT DIED. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER. HOPEFULLY THIS ONE WORKS BETTER. August 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Batteries unreliable Bought three of these batteries, two came with drill set and one with weed-whip, some months ago. Two have now failed and cannot be re-charged. July 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Battery Backup Smart I do not know how your power is but here in Louisville many times its down, out, blinks, you name it so having a battery back up is a good idea! This battery has preformed wonderfully it made me trustworthy of Ryobi battery products so i bought the cordless drill and weed trimmer. July 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Proprietary and expensive The price of the battery and charger were more than half the price of the nailer. Ryobi should find a way to package the nailer, battery and charger as one unit and assess a reasonable price. July 19, 2016
