What is the input voltage to the charger? 110V or 220V or 12V (car) or hopefully all 3....

Asked by: Fisheadkc
Ok, I'm re-answering your ? I can't stand when people say I think, because then you really don't know if that's right or not. I took the time to go get the charger. It shows Input as 120V ~ 60Hz 50W. Output is 18V. I hope this helps you.

how can I replace a new refill spool

I have lost printed manual.
Asked by: spanky
I caught a wire and the string disappeared into the spool. How do I get it out? I've tried to start and release the trigger but to no avail. I've only used the trimmer twice so no way it should be empty but I cannot figure out how to release the spool and check the string. Can you help me? Thanks

How long does the battery charge last

I have a battery powered one now and I am lucky if I get 15 mins out of a fully charged battery which means I can NEVER trim my entire yard which is annoying. I have at least 30-45 mins of edging I need to do due to tree roots in the way of the lawn mower blades and other structures, beds in my yard. I don't want to buy another item and run into the same issues. Thanks

your better off buying the silver batteries last much longer ,right now you can get 4 1 inch for $100 or 2 of the big best batteries for $100 2 small silver =1 big silver or 4 small black batteries are = to 1 big silver the black batteries are pretty much junk.I have a few different tools and depending on the tool and how much drag you put on the tool makes a big difference sawzall lasts a long time if you don't overload it let the tool do the work .I don't have a string trimmer yet but am getting one just don't know which one .do any of the 18v come with a edging wheel or is that only on the bigger ones?

Can I purchase an additional backup battery for this trimmer; and for how much?

Asked by: usch
Yes. In the weedeater section they had a two pack for $99 which was over the top for me. I went over to the cordless drill section and bought a single battery for $54 as the same battery can be used for the trimmer as well as the cordless drill.

This Ryobi trimmer/edger fully met my expectations for a battery powered model. It is adequate for light to medium duty work. The battery life is good allowing me to use it continuously over a half hour without needing a recharge. Switching between trimming and edging is quick and easy, I find that I don't need to adjust the handle when doing so as the operator's manual recommends. This model is designed to advance line whenever the trigger is released for at least a couple seconds and then subsequently depressed again. To conserve line therefore, cycling the power should only be done when needed to advance the line, not when walking from one trimming area to the next.

Upon getting it home it wouldn't cut 20 feet without being at low power. Tried charging it again. same problem and forgot about it until next spring. I have had it now for 3 years and tried using it 4 times. Its junk! I believe mine is defective. I like Ryobi. This puts in question their products and I may switch brands depending on the outcome of a like new useless weed wacker.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great price but doesn't auto feed well I bought this trimmer/edger about a month ago and the price was great and it was compatible with my other Ryobi 18 volt batteries. It has great power for around the yard but not for trimming big weeds. It doesn't auto feed correctly. This is the second trimmer I have went through and thought it was me but I can't seem to get it to auto feed when I want it to. I think a stronger motor and an auto feed that actually works would make this trimmer awesome! They have used this same design for years and it is time for an update for new technology. I would recommend this for a patient home owner who isn't looking to use it in big weeds or grass. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Second version of this unit I've owned; this one is much superior to the older version. Does everything I want and mostly on one charge. We have more than this unit in the One + family and are happy with all Ryobi.
