I had an older Ryobi string trimmer, so I knew exactly what I was getting.
This new one has a much lighter battery that lasts a LOT longer than the old ones.
I used to burn through two of the old batteries and still not be able to finish...this new battery lasts longer than two of the old ones, and I was able to trim and edge the front lawn, the back lawn and inside the pool area with no signs of slowing down.
I am happy I made this purchase.

Extending new line isn't very easy. Instead of a bump head the string automatically releases when you hold the unit steady at high RPM and then allow it to come to a stop. This only works some of the time and not at all if you have flipped the head so it is cutting vertically. The Royobi prewound string heads also stink. It is pretty common that the string isn't wound smoothly on the reel and is stuck. This requires you to take the head apart and manually unwind the string.

As a 70-plus woman, I've found this trimmer to be just what I had hoped for. As my husband uses the riding mower, I've been able to get the trimming done. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is that the battery hasn't lasted quite as long as I would like.

This won't do everything but what it does do it does so well. I have a big gas rig for the real meaty trimming. Everything else gets done with this gem. I do have several batteries and lots of other 1+ tools but one battery usually lasts longer than I do. i bought this one to replace the first one that finally quit after years of frequent use/abuse. I didn't want to go outside without one near by. No fussing with gas motors and oil. No fail to start. It simply starts at the pull of the trigger every time. If you have grass or light weeds buy it.

the first few times using did not have much power. better now. really depends on which of the 18 volt batteries you use. we have 3 types. this regulates the use time and power to cut through heavier weeds. the handles have caused blisters on both hands. not a problem with black and decker. the first spool of string worked well. when rewind the spool it does not feed out well. could be the string i have

Battery worked for all of 30 min first couple of uses. Then 20 min next couple of uses and the last was less then 15 min. Tried using electric cord but line feeder broke.
Overall unit didn't last 3 months.
Cheap product that doesn't do what it says it does.
DO NOT BUY
