I’ve typically opted for corded hand tools, under the assumption (due to past experiences) the battery life is less than desirable, the power is less than needed and cost is higher than reasonable. Fast forward to the 21st century … My kids gave me a “new” battery operated drill. I was skeptical, but quickly became a believer. After using the drill several times, demonstrating great battery life and all the torque I could reasonably handle, not to mention the absolute joy of not having to contend with an electrical cord tether, I thought … “anything that feels this good … I’ve just got to go all the way!” I purchased the super combo primarily due to the ‘package’ pricing, even though it would give me a second drill. Subsequently, I purchased an ‘impact’ drill and even got the 22in hedge trimmer. I can’t overstate how much easier my life (and yard work) is without having to deal with that pesky electrical extension cord!
The biggest advantage is the pure genius of a single battery which works in all these tools! And the package cost point(s) are manageable for us DIY’ers.
If there I could make a suggestion to Home Depot, it would be to allow a “custom” package offer where a customer could select more than one tool and HD provide a “package” price. There are several other tools I’d like to have, but to purchase each as a ‘standalone purchase’ gets to be a little pricey.

First of all the modular design is great. I purchased my first Ryobi product for bike riding. It was a small portable air compressor for airing up tires. Then I needed a new cordless drill. I now have many Ryobi tools because they all use the same 18 volt batteries. For the cost they are great tools. I have had many brands of tools and Ryobi has surprised me with their quality. For power needs I still use plug in power tools, but these are my go to drills. I don't earn a living with my tools but I don't baby them either. I feel these tools have been a good investment.

I've had a Black & Decker tool set similar to this except it has Ni-cad batteries that go dead sitting on the shelf which makes the tool pretty much useless unless you leave the batteries on the charger all the time which destroy's the battery. This tool being li-ion does not have this problem, but this tool also has way more power than others I have used. The batteries charge up in less than a half an hour which allows you to be very productive. Of course the main plus on this set was the incredibly low price. I don't really understand how they can sell this whole set for only $129.95.

So far, I have only used the drill once. However, I did test all the tools to make sure they work. I am a little confused about the batteries/battery charger. The instructions say the batteries only have a small charge in them, when shipped. But, when I put them on the charger, the charger says they are fully charged.

If this is your first foray into Ryobi tools, you'll be happy. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Ryobi tools. BUT, If you already own a bunch, like me, and are wanting duplicates, I highly recommend buying just the ones you need. I will be a little more expensive but well worth it. These are not as good as the ones you buy individually. The circular saw doesn't have the laser, the drill doesn't have the light and is kinda jerky. The batteries are the small ones without the charge indicators on them. And really, a incandescent flashlight?

Light weight, easy to handle. Quick to change battery.
Not too heavy even with battery when working all day.

I bought this as my first set with high hopes. I didn't know much about wood work and it was on sale for a seemingly good price. It definitely has its limits. I thought the circular saw can cut a 4x4, nope! It can barely cut a 2x4 without snagging. I'm still debating on weather I should keep this or not. If you plan on doing heavy wood work DO NOT BUY THIS. Invest the money and get yourself the proper tools; miter saw, better driver/drill, etc. Again, very limited in its performance. May be good for only light wood work or something else.

Solid, amazing power tools, especially for the price. Batteries charge in an hour, Comes with a simple tool tote, and blades for both of the saws. Very happy with the purchase. Many more projects to come!
