How long does a fully charged batter last?

Trying to determine how long a battery will last (on average) when using it outdoors trimming. I don't have a huge area to trim and I'm tired of dealing with the gas trimmer I have. It's not starting this year. I don't have any RYOBI products for spare batteries.
Asked by: danwilk
The slim 1.3ah battery which comes with the trimmer lasted 10 minutes on a full charge. My suggestion is buy the 4.0ah battery and send the original battery to recycle. The fully charged 4.0 battery lasted 45 minutes and I put it through some heavy work.

Which weight is the right one?

The box states that the unit weighs 5.75 lbs. but the website states 10 lbs. (and it feels more like 10lbs) Which one is the right weight?
Asked by: emma
It is most definitely closer to ten pounds.

Can you get this model without the battery and charger like the $49 model that is battery operated only? I have other Ryobi products/batteries.

Asked by: Barry
I believe there is one available with just the battery powered option. It could work if you you have a limited amount of trimming and/or a lot of lithium ion batteries. I have 4 Ni-Cad batteries and 2 additional chargers and 3/4 of an acre of property and bought the hybrid. Hope this helps...

Is a battery and charger included? What kind?

There are many different kinds of batteries in the RYBOI line: Lithium, Lithium Plus, Compact, High Capacity etc. and a few different chargers, so if these are included with this product I would like to know which kind?
Asked by: paulogy
A Lithium-ion battery and charger is included. I don't know the Ryobi line, but the battery doesn't say "Plus" on it so I suspect it's just the straight lithium.

ONE+ 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Hybrid Electric Cordless String Trimmer/Edger - 1.3 Ah Battery and Charger Included is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 910.

Wonderful concept and Ryobi is on the right track with their Battery powered line of lawn equipment, however the big drawback here is the battery itself. The battery life is not good. I can only get about 20 minutes of edging (walking around edging) from a full charge and I have a pretty standard sized lawn. If they can figure out the energy consumption piece/battery life, I'd buy more products like the blower and hedge trimmers, but not likely considering the performance from this trimmer. Positive side is there is the ability to plug in your extension cord to finish the job, but who wants to do that with a "cordless" trimmer. Kind of defeats the purpose. I would only recommend this product if you have a very small yard and can complete your edging quickly.

I had a Blk & Decker which after 10 years wore out. though I think it's the battery. The Ryobi is a definate improvement. It's lighter. It is more adjustible. It's much quieter.. The upper battery area is smaller making the unit easier to manuever. it is also more convenient that I now have two batteries to use on my other Ryobi products. I think I have 6. I'm also a tall guy & I don't have to lean down using this model. It's very strong and My yard is not huge 25' x 75'. Never run out of battery doing edges & trees etc!

The edging worked very well, and the weed wacker function was outstanding. Very easy to adjust for each task, the unit made the job much easier to accomplish. The battery is average (hope it does not get worse). But it was able to do the trimming around fence of backyard,, triming around bushes in front and side, and the edging of the sidewalk, front walk and driveway. It gave out at just the right time, but so long as it holds its charge, this unit worked great. The automatic string extender meant no bumping. Approximately 20 percent of the time, I had to manually stop the bachine and push the button to extend the string, but that is a minor flaw for a great product

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 3.5 stars would be better Bought this trimmer last week and was excited to use a battery powered trimmer as I have had a corded one for 9 years. Glad I bought the hybrid as the battery didn't last long enough to finish. Also the battery power isn't consistant. If you get into heavy areas the trimmer struggles. Corded it blow thru it. The auto feed with every trigger pull, not a fan. Also the 10" cutting radius is pretty small. I am going to keep for now. My first Ryobi tool that I am not giving 5 stars.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not strong enough I knew it would be a little weaker than the gas trimmer I was replacing, but I liked the idea of the rechargeable battery with the added option of plugging it in directly. I also liked the adjustable head to switch from trimming to edging with just a twist. However, I didn't realize just how much weaker it would be. It is fine for trimming grass, but it struggles with most other types of vegetation including relatively small weeds. If you just want to use it to go over the parts the mower missed and to use the adjustable head to do some basic edging, it is easy to use and works well. If you have anything with stalks that also needs to be trimmed, I would get something more powerful.

The cordless definitely has less power than the others but, it's light weight and versatility (no gas/oil smell or stupid 100 foot extension cords all tangled up). I/we all hate weed wacking but this tool makes it a lot easier. Have extra batteries charged up and ready to go just in case and you're all set.
