I knew when I purchased this trimmer what it could cut. It does quite well as expected. Its not made to tackle heavy brush, just maintain around the house. I prefer Ryobi for the quality and performance. I like the option of extension cord or battery too! I can manage maintenance of our livestock electric fences with it pretty fast. I am over 50 and under 5ft tall. Its very easy to handle with the battery! My calves are not startled by it as much as a gas powered weed trimmer.
I do not like the auto feed. Wastes a lot of line. Ryobi you need to change that! I stop and start my trimming a lot and it sure wastes a lot of line! If I need line I prefer to bump.

Item works well for around the home. Does good job whacking weeds and grass. Battery life is average, but with the added capability of using an electrical cord, is not a problem. The string cartridge is easy to replace, however I wouldn't recommend buying new cartridges. Use the same cartridge and buy a roll of string. Is a lot cheaper. Is fairly lightweight and does what it's supposed to do. One irritant is when using close to a fence or barrier, the string gets shortened tremendously. Overall, would rate it 8.5 out of 10.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DailyGardeners Works Really Well on Both Battery and Cord
We already own several Ryobi products, so had the charger and batteries. We therefore opted to save about $40.00 and bought this one -- offered online only at Home Depot. We received it in only a couple of days. Everything went together as directed and it works great. We have used it both with the cord for edging sidewalks and patios and trimming grass away from bricks, and with the battery for areas where the cord wouldn't easily reach.
Impressive device for both the cost and the ability to switch from cord to battery. Also like the ease of changing from trimmer to edger and back again. Easy to remove and replace string spool.

Give me back my bump feed. The auto feed did not work once during the entire time I was edging or trimming. The line is supposed to be 10" to 12" long, but within about 10 seconds it gets down to about 2" and stays there. If you leave it at 2" too long, eventually it disappears all together and you have to open up the string roll and fish it out again. To prevent the string from disappearing you have to "manually" feed the string about every 10 seconds. Very annoying.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KonaKarl Great Lightweight Trimmer..!
It's a good lightweight string trimmer for moderate use. The spool housing could be made a little more durable. It's not meant to be used for heavy duty yardwork, but it's perfect for doing touch ups in the yard after the main work is done.

My non-hybrid unit died(motor bearings shot). Line on spool would not advance automatically. Had to take off cover many times until only 1 row of line remained in spool. Thus the 4 star rating.

Does not do well beyond fine grass . The string is far too thin, expensive and needs replacement too often.
