How long does a fully charged batter last?

Trying to determine how long a battery will last (on average) when using it outdoors trimming. I don't have a huge area to trim and I'm tired of dealing with the gas trimmer I have. It's not starting this year. I don't have any RYOBI products for spare batteries.

Answer:
Battery life depends on which battery you use. Nicad, lithium ion 18v, or lithium ion+ 18v, they have large and small batteries. with the fat lithium ion you can go for about an hour. the battery it comes with is about 15-25 minutes depending on how thick the weeds you're trimming are.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 527 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not strong enough I knew it would be a little weaker than the gas trimmer I was replacing, but I liked the idea of the rechargeable battery with the added option of plugging it in directly. I also liked the adjustable head to switch from trimming to edging with just a twist. However, I didn't realize just how much weaker it would be. It is fine for trimming grass, but it struggles with most other types of vegetation including relatively small weeds. If you just want to use it to go over the parts the mower missed and to use the adjustable head to do some basic edging, it is easy to use and works well. If you have anything with stalks that also needs to be trimmed, I would get something more powerful. August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by self feeding is annoying. It works like it should for light trimmings. As long as you plan to use it for light trimming grass and edging it works great. Have used mine over 10 times now with no problems. It is quiet compared to gas powered trimmers and super light weight. Inorder to feed the line you have to let off the trigger and safety button for 3 seconds, yes 3 seconds, it gets annoying. make sure you have two batteries. the edger works well. Not good for tall people, im 6'1" and when using it as an edger it starts to hurt my back. Overall its a good product and does what it says it does. August 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value This is an excellent trimmer. the only issue we have had is the transition from trimmer to edger-takes some practice, but easy to figure out. The hybrid power function is AWESOME! August 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great features BUT TOO HEAVY ! I took my time choosing, but when I got it out of box at home, it was so heavy I could only cut for short time. ALSO, one cutting line made it WEAK. Id used my neighbors batt. trimmer and it weighs HALF this, cuts like demon w 2 strings. . August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Edger trimmer I had never used a edger trimmer before so far my first experience, it was great. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hybrid is a handy option I bought the Ryobi hybrid string trimmer to replace an older Ryobi model. Owning several One+ batteries I wasn't at first attracted by the ability of the hybrid to use a cord. However my edger is a corded model and my Ryobi leaf blower is also a hybrid model; when I edge the lawn I already have the extension cord deployed so the corded option on the trimmer has turned out to be quite handy. I can give the battery a day off. Performance-wise the string trimmer works quite well, both in cordless and corded modes. The string, like the previous model, self-feeds (see the user manual for details). We have a small ranch home in the "snuburbs" and the One+ battery easily handles trimming the entire propery. However if the same battery is then transferred to the Ryobi blower I've had the battery run out of juice before clearing all of the walks and driveway. The head can be turned sideways to turn the trimmer into a string edger. The edger mode doesn't function as well as my dedicated edger (which uses a metal blade), but is acceptable. One feature found on the old model and not on the new one is a metal bracket that swung down to guide the string when in edger configuration. I found this feature handy, and so I've deducted on bar from the "Features" rating. Ergonomically the string trimmer works well; the balance is good and the weight is not burdensome. The trimmer body can be adjusted for length and the handles offer a nice grip. Overall I think it's a reasonable machine for a reasonable price. It comes with the standard 90 day return option at H/D and a 3 year limited warranty from Ryobi. HTH Regards, Jim August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by don't waste your money I have most of the 18v Ryobi tools and they all work well. This trimmer worked beatifully until it suddenly stopped. I've had it about 2 years and only use it sparringly as I don't trim the edges of my lawn but about once a month so I've used it maybe a dozen times, very light duty use. Today it just quit. No noise, no buring smell, no nothing. I don't want gas or electic with a cord...another note--I never did understand why it wouldn't self feed the line... August 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by trimmer Just what we needed, kinda have to get used to line feed but lightweight and we have other Ryobi products for multiple batteries August 9, 2016
