I have a large number of adhesive sandpaper rolls that I cut and use with my other sanders. Can I use the adhesive backed sandpaper on the Ryobi One+ 18-Volt Random Orbit Sander? Or do need a special backing pad?

Answer:
It uses a hook and loop disc. You probably can use the hand cut discs, but you will not have the advantage of the holes in the discs to clear sawdust.

Answer:
using adhesive on this sander would probably ruin the gripping teeth. I don't recommend it. It's not really made for that.

I would use the velcro style. That is what Ryobi uses.

Answer:
This sander is hook and loop only. I have never seen a different platen offered for adhesive sanding disks. I just stick an adhesive disk to a used hook and loop disk and then slap it on the H & L platen offered on this sander. Then I get the best of both worlds. I hope this helps.

Answer:
This model has hook back pad for the loops type sanding disc, using adhesive backed sanding discs will foul up the mounting pad. They are not that expensive to purchase, use your old ones for hand sanding.

Answer:
The Sander uses a hook-and-loop sanding pad system. I don't know if there is an additional "backing pad" available to use self adhesive sandpaper or not. It is a really nice sander, but not hugely aggressive.

Answer:
Hi Neil,
This sander uses only hook and loop paper.
Your adhesive sanding sheets will not stick to the base.
You will need an adhesive backed paper adapter.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 62 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by known quantity this was a replacement for the same model that left on a trip and never came back. It's a good run-of-the-mill orbital sander. It basically does what you'd expect of this kind of sander. December 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sanding efficiently The sander made my sanding project a lot more manageable. The mailbox was smooth and old paint free. It was nice to have a smooth and clean surface to apply primer and paint on. May 20, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad I returned it. It had no rotary movement. It just vibrated. I love the One + system but this tool is just bad. September 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful and comfortable Nothing much to say. It is a workhorse. The only negative is there is no dust catcher. For outside work, it is outstanding, but I'll probably use my corded sander inside because it has a dust catcher. August 18, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for small items This tool works very efficiently on small projects. On larger ones it gets hot if you use it for extended periods. Overall, I like it. July 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Sander Perfect addition to my other Ryobi 18V tools. I've only used it once since I purchased it to do some light sanding and it performed very well. So much better and faster than my old finishing sander. July 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love using this! I had this sander for a while before I actually used it, and now I am wondering why.I was a bit concerned about it being awkward to use, but it isn't. It was so light and well balanced in my hand that I loved it. It did the job quickly and perfectly. It makes goofing up almost impossible, even for me. Being free from a cord is fantastic, because I can use it anywhere. I love all of my ryobi tools. May 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by exactly what I was looking for The sander uses the batteries that the rest of my cordless tools use. It gets the job done as well or better than my corded sander. It does not blow a stream of sawdust like my corded sander. I wish it was carried in one of the stores near me. June 16, 2015
