Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Niraht Over all, a very handy pruner
Now a few tips:
To keep the limb from shaking when you cut it, cut the limb close to where the limb connects to a larger branch with the blade horizontal to the larger branch, (Base of Limb) and use a sawing motion to keep the pruner from grabbing.
Despite the bad reviews I have read, which seems to be all there are on this tool, I find it very handy and easy to use,
However, it is not meant for pruning a branch away from the base of the branch, like towards the middle of the branch. I have used it now to remove several small stumps in diameters of up to 4" without problems and to remove dead branches from a tree.
Perhaps include a use video with this product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by billofsale It doesn't cut as fast, easy or as well as a hand pruning saw.
Looked great, just what I wanted. Well balanced, easy to hold and maneuver. I tried on a number of smaller branches and it took way too long, it is much easier to cut a branch with a simple hand saw. I thought maybe it was the blades so I used some from my recip saw that cut just fine in the recip saw - but no improvement. I then tried on a 2x4 in vise - a bit better but that's not what I bought it for. I agree with another reviewer that it is all in the length of the stroke - it's just too short and the material being cut must be steady (i.e. not a branch). Too bad, seemed like an ideal tool ! Most of the other Ryobi tools I have generally fine.

Don't know what Ryobi was thinking. Seemed like a great idea, essentially a pruning saw that would take the work out of pruning larger branches. Also could work in tighter spaces than a chain saw. Except it doesn't work at all. Apparently, the stroke is so short that a single tooth vibrates the branch back and forth without ever actually cutting. I compared it on a 2" limb to a simple bow saw. The bow saw cut the limb in perhaps 5 seconds, the Ryobi took 15 seconds and I had to hold the limb steady with my other hand right next to the blade. Not exactly the safest cutting technique. It would be nice if someone brought out a tool like this with a long enough stroke to be useful- this isn't it. Back to HD.

Earlier today I bought this product to go along with the other Ryobi 18v products. I have been happy with the trimmer, chain saw, and leaf blower. Well I knew I was in trouble when it took me and my girlfriend over 30 minutes to get it out of the packaging. Then the fun began. Just refer to the other bad reviews instead of saying again what was already said. Just very unhappy with it and I was doing light yard work. If I had th packaging I would have tried to return it but that was destroyed while getting the tool out. I should have read the reviews before purchasing. BAD

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HouseRefurbisher One of the best buys in cordless tools
My Ryobi 18v One+ tools have all lasted well over ten years (with use that is occasional, but heavy for a few days each time). I started with the 14.4V tools, moved up to 18V, added the Lithium, and own about ten tools, all well constructed and durable. This is essentially a single-speed reciprocating saw and you can't beat the deal on it for price/quality ratio. I'm convinced negative reviewers don't know how to use a recip. saw. It has to be braced against a work piece or it won't work properly. No recip saw (frequently called "sawsall," a Milwaukee brand name) will. The saw is lightweight, very powerful, easy blade change, has a whole family of batteries that fit, including your existing Ryobi 18V batteries and can cut through a four by four in a few seconds with the right blade. It's nice to prune without a cord, gas, oil or elbow grease. I'm very pleased.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by alex this product is a great value
Works great with a freshly charged battery
not so good with a weak battery it Will just vibrate the item you are trying to cut if your battery is weak
I bought it instead of the reciprocating saw ryobi sells in this series for a bit more money. And the rpms are also a little better on this than their saw. You can use any recip. saw blade and change them in under 5 seconds... I used it to cut pallets and branches multi use tool ..over all I am satisfied with my purchase

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JTizmo Works great
This tool works great, when you use it how it is intended. I live on fur acres, and have a variety of cutting to do. I bought this for the smaller limbs, when a chain saw is not needed, or is too wieldy. If you need tools to open the package, then this tool is probably not for you. The pruning saw is so easy, my 88 year old mother dons her glasses and gloves and uses it while I am using the chainsaw. I buy blades for pruning, and it worked great all summer long.

Very disappointed in this product. All it did was vibrate and bounce off the small limbs I was trying to cut through. The ones I did mange to get it to cut into took forever to cut through. I was able to cut through a limb with a hand held pruner twice as fast. Terrible product. Plus the battery and charger I had to purchase was double the price of the pruner. Getting my money back on both. Dont waste your time or money on this item.
