Answer:
No. It needs 18V DC current. Unless you have a power pack that can generate 18V, you will need to use batteries. Ryobi does make a high capacity battery. You can buy a 2-pack (link below) and that should give you close to two hours of cord free trimming.

Answer:
Yes, JJ, this unit does come with string included for its initial use. After this spool runs out of string, you are able to purchase string separately to re-fill the spool.

Answer:
Hello Mike. As long as you are using the correct size line (Use only 0.065 in. diameter round or twisted or 0.080 in. diameter twisted line.). Then you should be fine using your own. Thanks for your question.

Answer:
You can wind your own. Make sur you use .065 or it won't feed properly. It is not a bump feed. It automatically feeds .25 inch each time you start the trimmer.

With the right size string you can rewind. I have rewound my old trimmer is seems like 100 times and it still worked like new until the cutting blade popped out and was lost.

I replaced the string on mine easily. The instructions said to cut a nine foot piece and wind it on which worked well. No tools needed...except something to cut the string from the bulk roll.

I used a battery that I had already used in my Ryobi hand-vac and still got about 20 minutes of trimming. I'm not sure that I will ever start with a full battery because I use them in all of my tools, but if I do, I'll update this post.

With a standard 24 Wh battery I get 15-20 minutes of run time. Batteries with higher capacity are available. I have a second battery if I need to use the trimmer longer. Also, the trimmer has full power for the entire time. There is no slow down as the battery drains.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product for the price. Works very well. Construction quality is as good as other trimmers. Easy to use. Had to push real hard to get the two piece shaft assembled. September 20, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Great Does the job. It holds the charge and does what I expected August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very light weight I bought this because we already had the regular lithium battery. I found the battery lasted 30 minutes which was more than enough to get the weeds behind our fence. This replaced an 10 year old electric cord type trimmer and I am very happy with this new trimmer. No more long electric cord to drag behind and this was so much lighter! The weight was my deciding factor in this purchase. My husband liked another model but since I'm the one doing the weed whacking, this was my choice. I'm 5' 3" tall so if you are a tall person, you will be slouching and may want to consider another model with extendable handle. June 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Light and effective My wife wanted her own weed eater because my gas operated one was to heavy. This unit is light and easy to operate. Does all may wife will ever need it to do. The rotating head for edging is a nice feature. Get the big lithium battery for longer life, you will be glad you did. August 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Boxed cheaply dosen't pay off The trimmer would not fit together easily. Wires were sticking out and in the way. Returned it before I broke it. August 2, 2016
