I just used this to trim a large hedge in my yard (see pic) this weekend and I was worried that my 2 batteries wouldn't be enough...turns out one battery did the entire job! I took upwards of a foot of growth from all sides of the hedge; enough to totally fill my yard debris container. Plus, it took me half the usual time since I didn't have to drag the extension cord around, which is such a relief. It's just as powerful as my old plug in as well...I was cutting 1/2 inch diameter limbs with ease. Great addition to my awesome ONE+ collection!

This cordless hedge trimmer works as well as our corded Craftsman hedge trimmer (that has been well maintained). It sure is nice to pop in a battery, trim a hedge or shrub, then pop out the battery (for storage). A quick wipe down and the hedge trimmer is ready to be put back into storage until needed again for a quick trim. This sure is a lot easier than having to unwrap the power cord, and drag it around until trimming is done, then wrapping up the cord. My wife cut the neighbor's hedge (about 70 feet long) in about 10 minutes, as compared to about an hour last year with the cord - the time was so much longer because the power cord kept getting hung up on the hedge. For portability and no cord to cut, this really handles the job well.

Lasted much longer than anticipated while making the cut! The only drawback is the safety switch is difficult for an arthritis sufferer.

It's a well-designed trimmer, and easy to use. It is so nice not to have to be careful while maneuvering around a power cord.
I think it could have been less costly--I bought the trimmer without the battery at around $50, but feel (based on no solid evidence) that that was a little higher than need be.
Haven't had it long, so reliability remains to be seen, but it is pretty capable, cutting through stems up to about 3/16's with ease. The battery charge lasts a good while, too.

I have a hedge trimmer with cord, but between my spring and fall 'major trimming work' around the house I wanted to take care fo the long sprouts that come up, but without the hassle of runing the cord (long distances, I have 2 acres). Thus either gas powered or electric came to mind. I was very plesantly impressed with this unit and the thickness of branches and stems it easily cuts. I intended this as a spot trimmer, not for huge trimming jobs but have converted using it for most trimming and not using my corded unit. Since I have multiple tools or Ryobi 18V I specifically went with Ryobi battery/tool. Maintaining batteries seems to be the major difficulty with battery tools, so since I have an maintain 4 (four) 18V batteries of this brand it was painless. The power and duration is good (about 40 minutes), but then to another battery. The convience has been the part I love.

I was scared to buy this because I've never used a saw before but my bushes were getting ugly and out of their round shape they were before, so I decided to get this one because it's cordless and I already have the battery for it as I own another Ryobi tool. The instructions are terrible, I didn't understand how to start and what kind of maintenance it requires so I will have to look that up another time in case it needs oil on the blades etc. However to start it I had to chance it because I didn't understand the instruction sheet. It said to make sure the power is off before plugging the battery but I didn't know how to switch it to off. I stayed away from the blades and plugged the battery...nothing happened, so that's good that means the switch was off. then I had to figure out how to turn it on because is not a regular on/off switch, but I figured it out and it's very easy to use because you have to constantly hold the switch for it to stay on (for safety reasons) so as soon as you let go it stops. I was careful at first then when I realized how light and easy it was to do I was looking for more things to trim, it was kind of fun. I'm a woman and I usually only see men using these tools so I felt good about having accomplished nicely shaped/trimmed bushes in less than 10 minutes. I will never buy gas tools again, having cordless tools is so much easier, I love it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bert Good for quick trimming
I've got bigger electric trimmers, and they are more powerful, but this one is far more convenient to use. Love not having to drag out the cord and drag it around. It works fine on the bushes around the house. I wouldn't recommend it for a professional landscaper, or someone wanting to trim lots of huge bushes, but it works great for cleaning up and trimming around the home. The main thing is how quick and convenient it is to grab it and trim something. For how I use it, it works great. I hardly ever dig out the bigger trimmers anymore. Batteries are not a problem, because I have lots for my other tools, but I've not run it down in a single trimming session. So far, I run out of energy before it does.

I am quite safisfied with this trimmer. I have two other Ryobi one+ tools and did not want another battery charger. I would have accepted another extra capacity battery but that was not an option. The shpping container it came in was a home made container and I was not overly impressed with that. I like to keep the containers for future reference and features.
