Hi Chris! Yes, it can be used on the nicad kit. However, you will need a LITHIUM charger for the lithium batteries.

One Plus 18-Volt NiCad Battery Super Combo Kit (4-Tool) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 245.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Alright for what they are. If you are anything other than the weekend warrior type, don't bother with this kit. Been an Electrician for 20+ years, over that time I have had my share of cordless tools. A few years ago, I picked up this kit, being under-employed at the time, the price was right. Within two weeks, the drill smoked, HD did exchange it for a new one. That one lasted a few months before going down the drain. At that point, I upgraded to the Li-ion drill, I was more impressed with the batteries than the drill. Ended up killing off two of those also. The drills are not quite "professional" quality. As far as the rest of the kit is concerned; The circular saw is fine, as long as you have ths Li-ion batteries. The recipicating saw, Decent, and powerful enough though it is some what of an ergonomic distaster, if you find yourself having to make a cut in a somewhat interesting position, the safety switch can be a challange to hold down so the saw works. The flashlight was the best part of the deal. With the Li-ion batteries on a full charge, it can last a good 3-4 hours. The Ni-Cads can be hit or miss, Out of the 6 that I have, Depending on what I am doing, 3 seem to last and the other 3 seem to die as soon as I slap them in the drill. My suggestion would be just by pass this one and get the Li-ion kit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow Great Value and works great. Got this kit for Christmas a present from Santa Clause. (Previously owned, and still do own Ryobi 14.4, Good stuff.) The drill has good power the only complaint is that the chuck will only hold down to a 1/16th inch drill bit; other than the chuck size it seem to be a good made product. The circular saw works good also it works much better when using one of the Li-ion batteries. The flashlight is nice because it sits on a flat surface and the head turns so you have light where you need it. The reciprocating saw also works well and is variable speed; it also comes with two blades that work good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value kit I really like the value of this kit, it is like getting a battery and a tool for free and it added two batteries to my collection. Great tools that will handle the light to medium jobs I like to do with cordless tools. I like the tool bag to hold everything and it makes it convenient to just grab the bag when I go to one of my children's homes for a visit. They always have a task or two that could use my help and now I have a great selection of tools to take along. I used the recip saw right away for trimming off the sucker branches on some apple trees. I was not looking forward to trimming them by hand but the saw with a wood blade made the job enjoyable instead of a chore. The saw was light enough to use for a long time without fatigue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tools but Stick to Ni-Cad batteries I have had this tool set for over 3 years and use it frequently. The tools are great and the Ni-Cad batteries do an adequate job. DO NOT buy the Lithium batteries for these tools. If you can get a set that even work, they will not run the circle saw or the reciprocating saw without tripping out. They have a overload protector built in that shuts off the battery under load. Unfortunately, the saws are too much load for the battery. I hope Ryobi corrects this problem soon (although they will not admit that they have one).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Have 2 of these Kits For years I was high on these tools, but after batteries started dying and tools overheat and melted batteries I am going dewalt or makita. Anything but Ryobi. I contacted an "authorized Ryobi service center" and they were horrible. They basically told me it was my fault. DON'T BUY THESE TOOLS. Read all the reviews on battery problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value, Hoped for More Power! My dad and I got this tool combo kit at our local home depot on sale for $120.00. Ryobi has a great selection of tools. We looked at the Lithium - Ion package, but that didn't include a recip-saw so we went with value on this one. The drill is about medium heavy and the light is great with it's swivel head. The circ-saw has great power and the recip-saw is pretty fair. We also had a Lith-Ion from our cordless weed-eater. The tools work much better with a Lith-Ion battery and I could feel a huge difference in power while using that. Our metal cutting blade broke for the recip-saw and our wood blade is bent. I reccomend getting 2 more Lith-Ion batters and a charger. Remember, Lith-Ion batteries don't fit into a Ni-Cad charger. I hope this review helped you with your decision on this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from P842 18-Volt Ni-Cad Battery 4-Tool Combo Kit I used Ryobi years back and slowly gravitated away due to the features of the bigger named products. Eventually Those big brands stayed the same as Ryobi, B&D, Craftsm*n got BETTER to match. I always laughed at the "reviews" of tools because most guys who take the time to write a review I dubbed as "weekend warriors" who didn't have the depth of knowledge others had, did the type of work a contractor would do, those who may use their cordless tools maybe 4-5 times a month. Honestly that was the case at one time. Anyhow, I don't write reviews, in fact this will be the second time I remember ever taking the time out of my day to write a review......I purchased this set after my DeWalt drill went out after 6 months of what most would call extensive use. It was dropped from the roof twice which helped the death process. I was given a partial payment by the guy who dropped it so, I bought this set. Near less than half the amount I paid for my DeWalt drill with two batts and a charger-also from Home Depot (drop from a roof is not covered by warranty). The new Ryobi set worked flawlessly!! The batts kept their charge for more than half the day and recharging only takes an hour. I figured a couple more batteries would do me well so, I bought the UPGRADED LITIUM batts which WILLwork with this set. The two LITHIUM BATTS came with a charger and will power each of the tools that came in this set. So, to all those who say the tools are great but the batteries are not that great, here is your fix for that issue. The LITHIUM batts do need the LITHIUM charger, just buying the batts won't help you. These tools will last you a while as long as you do not abuse, overwork them in a manner which would be better with a plug in tool. For those that do contract grade work or engage in heavy use situations BUY THE LITHIUM BATTS/CHARGER and see what you think when the job is done! I built my add on room, enclosed my carport into a garage and built a new workshop using the drill. The recip. saw, circular saw were not used as much but def. had their fare share of use during these jobs! The flashlight was used many times. With 4 batts the job was easy! I recommend this drill & set as price and heft are def. the best features of any product. Purchase the Home Depot warranty upgrade for extra insurance though the set comes with a 3 year gaurantee. Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, Hitachi, Porter Cable, SKIL, ETC. all are great heavy use users, but you can no longer count out RYOBI!! I purchased the 18v LITHIUM RYOBI drill last week and have yet to put it through use such as the drill that came in the 5pc set, BUT I know it will do just fine! SOLD ON RYOBI CORDLESS TOOLS/TECHNOLOGY!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for the money All great except for the saw - the safety button is designed for a person with six fingers difficult to depress and hold the safety button and pull power trigger. Sawsall eats batteries in no time...
