You use it with a screw gun, you use the appropriate bit for the screw to remove.

I purchased this set to remove one-way screws on the security door at my home. Unfortunately, the bit just slips off the ridges of the screws when I try to back them out. It is worth mentioning, however, that it appears that it will work great to install them. At the end of the day, I ended up using my Dremel to cut notches in the screws and remove them. One star because this tool doesn't seem to be designed to do what it's advertised to do -- remove one-way screws.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job This did the job once I'd prepped the non-removable screws. First I bought AvantiPro metal cut off disks, 3"diameter, 1/16" thickness. Attached one to the drill and created a deep cross cut in the screw heads so they looked like phillips head screws. This eliminated the gradation which otherwise thwarted removal. Then a shot of WD-40 and a few whacks with a hammer. In one case it took the additional step of hammering a putty knife between the security door and the screw head. Then it was ready for this Ryobi tool. Applying some serious pressure and going easy on the electric drill's throttle spun all three screws right out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great installer, but not remover This tool works great as an installer. As a remover, it fails. In theory, the tool tip should grab into the ramps of the screw and turn it. All it does is slip off. You can help the tool out by filing a flat spot on each ramp, but if you're going to do that you might as well create slots with a hacksaw and file to use a slotted screwdriver as I ended up doing. Again, if you're installing, this tool is great but if you're removing, don't bother.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Robi one way screw remover This product might work for somebody else but didn't not work for my project. First it was hard to locate at Home Depot and actually didn't work for backing out the screws . Used and old contractor trick vice grips and a screw driver to complete the job. I keep this product maybe somebody else I know can use it . But wasn't a good buy for me .

You could use it to install one way screws but you could also just use a regular screw driver to install . It does nothing to help removing one way screws. The edges of the tool just slip right off the edges in the screw heads

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One way screw remove No fault of Ryobi, it should be called just one way screw installer, no one makes a tool for removing one way screws. I guess that's why they call them one way screws.
