Customer Reviews

Reconditioned 5.3-Amp 3 in. x 18 in. Belt Sander is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after 2nd use! I would not recommend this product to anyone. I bought one a few years ago. Used it once, it worked fine. Haven't used it since. Pulled it out today to take the finish off an old table top. About 5 minutes in the belt stopped moving. Looked inside and found the drive belt had come off and also cut into the casing. The rear gear has a wobble to it that works the belt off the gear. I realize its not the most expensive tool but you should get more than one and a half uses out of it. Stear clear of this piece of junk. Ryobi should be embarrassed and ashamed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One tough little sander with just the right amount of power. I used this sander to strip the finish that remained on a door after i had removed the bulk of the paint with a water soluble paint remover. It took several hours of sanding to get the job done. But this little sander did a great job. It is not so powerful that you'll gouge the wood if you press too hard yet it's powerful enough to get the tough stuff off. At one point the sander slipped out of my hand ran across the door and bounced about 2 feet to the floor. But this did not hurt the sander (or the door) at all and I've used it for many hours since that accident. My only complaint is that the "stay-on button" is difficult to control with one normal sized hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product for the price I needed a belt sander to replace my 40-year-old hand-me-down for the occasional shop project, and this seems to be doing the trick perfectly. From what I've seen, the dust collector bag is useless, though. And belts are Cheap! I was used to paying $5 to $6 apiece for my old one; this one they're about $1 each.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value I consider Ryobi excellent 'weekend warrior' power tools, and have bought them for years (i.e. electric drill, blower, sprayer). This is my second 3X18 belt sander from Ryobi. I had the first one for over 6-years until the motor burned out. This replacement is the same model and I expect another great experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Sands like a dream, ranging from fine finish to heavy sanding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sander! Works great. Has the typical issue that most band sanders have: the sanding band/belt will move inside or outside the rollers depending if you put too much pressure on it. Definitely manageable. Went through about 10 bands at this time and it barely shows any sign of wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertized. Did the job I had to do with 0 problems. As an 85 year old homeowner I was very pleased with the preformance and price of this sander. Saved me many hours of hand sanding.
