CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Stopped working after 1 year I bought this sander from HD in May of 2013. I used it a few times for different projects throughout the year. It was always put away clean and carefully. While it was working I was very happy with it. The tool would bounce around some and some of the sanding pads would hang over the available velcro, but not a big deal. It worked nicely for a wine rack I built as well. It does not leave distinctive swirls. However, as of October 2014 the sander is dead. I took it off the shelf and it simply does not turn on at all. Nothing, not even a whimper. I'm upset that it lasted but a little over a year. October 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quick easy to use DA sander Owned about 1 year now, and its been an awesome sander with great power for my tough jobs. I use the hook and loop and from 60grit to 220grit the machine does a great job for the price. Can't say enough GOOD about this little guy. October 21, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for leveled or flat surfaces Perfect as long as the surface is flat, do not try to use for any detail, it does say not to put pressure when using but I had to a little to get it to sand down. I used 60 grit sand paper for my project, it worked great. July 10, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Product description is Wrong. And this was Very Dirty, Not reconditioned. First the description says that this accepts PSA Adhesive Sand Paper - IT DOESNT!!! I waited a week for this to arrive because all the models available in store only accepted hook and loop sanding pads. My old sander died and I have a ton of PSA sanding pads left plus the hook and loop pads are way more expensive. This refurbished model was the only option or so I thought. This is the Ryobi RS290. Also, to make matters worse this item arrived out of box, minus instructions, and was crazy dusty. It looked like someone used it then put it in an unmarked box and gave it to me. There was a large burn mark in plastic body. I have purchased "refurbished" in the past and they arrive looking like new - in a new box, cleaned, tested, and with all manuals. This was a disappointment all the way around and it delayed my project a week waiting for this to arrive. April 8, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Product in store was not marked as Reconditioned!! Without the inherent problem, this would not be a bad tool. However, after I run it for 15-30 minutes the inside screw on the arbor loosens causing the tool to vibrate, gyrate and get out of control. If I take the pad off and tighten the screw, it works again. This must be a bad design because no user should have to constantly tighten this screw to get this tool to work. I do not know if this problem is typical with Ryobi Orbital Sanders, but I would certainly not buy another one. February 22, 2014
