Reconditioned Expand-It Pruner Trimmer Attachment is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 152.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Boat23 Great product for the money. This is my second one, I wore the first one out after many years of use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No So Good when using Extension Shaft It was nice be able to purchase a reconditioned unit for half the price of the new unit, but it seems I got only half the functionality as well. There's just too much play in the flexible drive inside the extension shaft. Without load the chain spins just fine, but moments after the chain touches wood the chain stops cold, even though the engine is still revving. If I disassemble and reassemble the extension shaft the chain will spin again, at least until I try to make it actually cut something. Without the extension shaft the pruner is very powerful and does a fine job of cutting anything I've tried it on. It's nice to be able to reach a short distance overhead, but another few feet would have been much better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buy a better model The automatic oilier was a nice feature and the weight allowed for cutting with gravity. Could not get it to operate with extension and could not prevent it from rotating when in use. It would cut well when unit did not rotate. Possibly the vibration was compounded by the weight imbalance and made constant use a challenge.Found it was aggravating to use due to this design flaw. Inability to use it with the extension (that was my main reason for buying it) was the most frustrating. The flexible shaft would simply not engage with the extension. Definitely needs a better more reliable design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. I took a chance and purchased this chainsaw pruning attachment as reconditioned at half the cost of a new one. It looks like new and works great. Absolutely simple to use: fill the reservoir with chain saw oil and attach it to the power head. Start the power head and go cut things! The reconditioned pruner comes with a second pole piece to lengthen the distance you can reach. It does not come with any oil or a tool to tighten/loosen the blade or chain. The chain came very sharp and I've cut through an 8" green maple branch with no difficulty. I feel that this was a great purchase as I can prune a lot of trees without using a ladder or handsaw on a pole.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality This is an excellent product, My friend bought one and was excited about it, encouraged me to get one. I have very tall trees and did not want to climb a dangerous ladder. Extension pole is an excellent addition. I will say though, if you have a bad back as I do, it can be a bit hard to handle with extension. I added an editional handle to the extension pole, made it much easier to handle. Cuts just as good as my chain saw within the limits of the blade length. Great tool, easy to store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just like new. Pruner looked like new right out of the box. Came complete with the expansion section for extra reach. Had no problems cutting through branches as thick as 4". Didn't bog down the head unit or bind up the drive mechanism. Definitely worth the money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK, not great Bought the attachment reconditioned. It looked almost new upon arrival. I attached it to a new full crank Ryobi powerhead. It would not stay in position on the shaft. The spring loaded button intended to stop rotation did not work and I had to drill the shaft and install a screw. Seemed easier than returning it and for now it solves the problem. It changes the erstwhile ease of changing attachments of the expand-it system. Maybe this is why it was returned in the first place. It cuts OK. Engine is a bit underpowered for anything bigger than about 3" dia when cutting poplar It will cut larger, but I had to actually lift up slightly so the full weight of the saw is not on the branch. Seems a good balance between weight and stiffness for light use (up to about 3" branches). For heavier use, it probably needs to be a bit heavier/stiffer as well as needs more power.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money on this item Bought a reconditioned unit at a great price at HD online. Box included manual and limited warranty. I put oil in the tank per instructions, attached the included extension to the pruner and locked in place with my TroyBilt machine. I was able to start on a 2-3 inch branch with no problem whatsoever...then it stopped working. Engine was on but chain would not move. I checked the chain and it was in place so I figured somehow it was not turning. I removed the extension and was able to use the the main pruner to finish the job, but it makes no sense to keep it if I can't reach high branches. I returned the unit to the store.
