It was nice be able to purchase a reconditioned unit for half the price of the new unit, but it seems I got only half the functionality as well.
There's just too much play in the flexible drive inside the extension shaft. Without load the chain spins just fine, but moments after the chain touches wood the chain stops cold, even though the engine is still revving. If I disassemble and reassemble the extension shaft the chain will spin again, at least until I try to make it actually cut something.
Without the extension shaft the pruner is very powerful and does a fine job of cutting anything I've tried it on. It's nice to be able to reach a short distance overhead, but another few feet would have been much better.

The automatic oilier was a nice feature and the weight allowed for cutting with gravity. Could not get it to operate with extension and could not prevent it from rotating when in use. It would cut well when unit did not rotate. Possibly the vibration was compounded by the weight imbalance and made constant use a challenge.Found it was aggravating to use due to this design flaw. Inability to use it with the extension (that was my main reason for buying it) was the most frustrating. The flexible shaft would simply not engage with the extension. Definitely needs a better more reliable design.

The expaned part will not work at all, you can put the saw right on the power head and it works fine add the exanded part and nothing works. how do I get the comany to replace it? It had one year warranty???

This is an excellent product, My friend bought one and was excited about it, encouraged me to get one. I have very tall trees and did not want to climb a dangerous ladder. Extension pole is an excellent addition. I will say though, if you have a bad back as I do, it can be a bit hard to handle with extension. I added an editional handle to the extension pole, made it much easier to handle. Cuts just as good as my chain saw within the limits of the blade length. Great tool, easy to store.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Jim321 New favorite outdoor tool! Love it!
I dunno how good it is for pruning, but this thing is _great_ for clearing brush! I'm clearing out paths on 2 badly overgrown acres behind my little church, and it just zaps thru thorny vine entanglements, thick bittersweet vines, etc. Its only weakness is a tendency to throw the chain occasionally. I'm think that that can be avoided by periodically cleaning the brush fragments out of the head.
I bought my first one new. I was so impressed that I then bought two reconditioned ones, one to keep as a low-cost spare & one to donate to a 'working charity' that clears overgrown land. They love it, too!
