Really like the multi-purpose Ryobi 18-volt battery pack concept and have two batteries that power my Ryobi drill, hammer-drill, saw, light, saber-saw and now my refurbished Ryobi Trimmer. The Ryobi charger works super and keeps the batteries charged up and does this very quickly. The trimmer is just what we need to trim around all the small difficult areas of our yard. I like that the Ryobi trimmer extends the cutting line automatically and that the two handles can be positioned to fit my left handed grip as well as my 6' height. A good design well engineered and built, like all the other Ryobi tools I own. There is not a week that goes by that I don't use some of these tools all without a cord; the best part!.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Mickythetorch Do NOT buy reconditioned equipment from Home Depot
If you read the fine print, reconditioned stuff is NOT returnable. Mine came broken. I don't mean didn't work quite right, but broken into pieces. It never even left the store. Homedepot.com gave us (me and the store staff trying to help me) a real hard time and refused to refund. If it weren't for the local staff going way above and beyond, I would have gotten stuck with a broken trimmer. Don't buy reconditioned and make sure you read the fine print about returns.

Just want to explain first that the new version of this product is great and I've generally had good luck with all of the Ryobi One product line.
But for this particular product, the trimmer came in the box looking like someone just used it, dirty, with no wire left and worst of all, the plastic shield was broken. It was only $10 cheaper than a brand new one, so there is really no reason not to just buy a new one (which is what I ended up doing). And it sounds like from the other reviews that other people have had a similar experiences.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by TheCaptain Refurb department needs an overhaul
The trimmer is the same as what you'd get if you bought new. What I wasn't expecting is a trimmer that had been poorly wiped down with a paper towel and thrown in a box. The trimmer spool was 1/2 used and they didn't even both to try and make it look better by cutting off the 6" at the end that still had chunks of grass embedded in it. I have refurbished stereos, refurbished computers, heck I have a used car. Refurbished should mean a used but brought back as close to new and then resold with a lesser warranty. Not wipe it down and resell it.
I will be exchanging this tomorrow morning when my local depot opens. Most likely picking up the Ryobi 40v which, after reading the reviews is a much more complete purchase.

I am used to getting a refurbished product that looks new, so was surprised that it looks more like a half hearted effort to remove the dirt left by the last owner. It works though, and is a good product so that's a plus.
