This guide is essential to producing straight edges on several different types of cuts. I can see why it might not be included with router itself (would be nice though); but I truly think that it is a complete failure on HD end that it is not stocked in stores.

This is a durable product. The last router came with the edge guide and when it was discarded, the edge guide was tossed as well. I was surprised that the new router was without the guide. It is virtually impossible to router straight without this guide.

Product is fine but not worth the price. Ryobi accessories are proving to be hard to find and not available at the store. That usually doesn't translate well for me.

I got what I wanted. And that's actually a BIG deal! I needed a way to route the straight edges of my cabinets - to widen the doorways just a bit. This has allowed me to do just that. There was only 1 little problem. The guide rails was too deep for my shelves so I had to shorten their depth by about 3/16"... with a hack saw, but it worked and now the job is so much easier than I was contemplating!!! I could not buy this guide in the Home Depot store, only online at HomeDepot.com. It was worth the wait (about 1 week).

They should not sell the plunge router without this guide. The bars are a little sticky, but a bit of sand paper and you are off and running. I have no real complaints other than not buying it sooner.

If you don't have a Router Table, your going to need an Edge Guide. Many companies make them, no sense in paying more for one than you need. The only Caveat which is true for any edge guide is that you need wood to grip to on both sides of the blade to be able to use it. You also need to be using this close to the edge of the wood. With that in mind, you can put a second block of wood to allow you to get closer to the edge, though if you need a straight line in the middle of the wood, you'll need to setup a block of wood with a clamp. I use it for making an inner frame on the inside of my signs, and making mortissen joints with the straight bit. There's surely many more uses, but this is what I have the most uses for. I can setup the edge guide on one board to where it puts the edge of the blade at the end of the depth of one 2x4, then notch several 2x4's without having to measure. Each one will be notched to the proper depth and length! Saves a lot of time.
