CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 237 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by no power I had very little expectations from this driver. I bought it to use on machine screws on metal panels that are hand tightened. Using a normal 18 volt cordless drill was over kill and too heavy to hold over my head undoing and and then putting in 20 screws per panel. This driver couldn't do it, even with a fully charged battery. On a clutch setting of 8, the driver would stop before the clutch would kick in. I bit the bullet and spent way more on a 12volt deWalt max Li-Ion 1/4" driver which HD had it on sale for the same price as their 7.2volt cordless screwdriver. it came with 2 batteries and I've been using it for a month on the first charge on the first battery. I don't see either of these in the store any more. Shawnessy was the last place that had the cordless screwdriver. November 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Little Driver I bough this driver about two weeks ago and have used it every day for small jobs such as installing cabinet doors, installing knobs and drawer pulls, drilling holes in mdf, and the performance and battery life are absolutely outstanding. I have had many low voltage tools from other companies in the past and none of them can stand up to this tool. Simply amazing power and battery life for a 4 volt product. Plus additional batteries are very reasonably priced. Highly reccomended. August 17, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little tool! This screw gun is great for small jobs around the house. Easy to handle and lightweight. I would recommend that you get a Screwdriving set that includes: A Magnetic drive guide reduces slipping and wobble 1 in.bit tips in the common sizes 2 in.bits and 3.5 in.bits in common sizes , these help where the screw is countersunk into the material. 1/4 in.and 5/16 in.nut drivers and a magnetic drive guide. Some of these sets Includes a tough case for storage. This would help you use the screw gun to it's potential. I put together a end table and a tv stand and have been using it around the house since. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Tool for the price It's light and instead of grapping a nut, phillips, or screw driver I go for my TEK4. Battery stays charged, and has a long life. January 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice little Drill/Driver I already owned this little drill/driver but could not pass up the Black Friday deal so I got another. This Tek4 driver seems to be almost perfect for those needs where my Ryobi compact drill or impact is just to much. I have used this for installing hardware to cabinets and adjusting the hinges. The quick change end allows you to interchange between 1/4" hex bits and 1/4" hex shanked drill bits easily. It has enough power to do the job. I would not recommend this Tek4 drill to install orattach the cabinet together. I have several other Tek4 tools so having serveal extra batteries helps. January 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for small jobs My husband likes the convenience of this tool for smaller jobs. January 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Little Drill I had an earlier model of this drill and my wife liked it so much she took it and told me to get my own. I love this drill, you can get in tight places, around corners and it has some power. Matter of fact it has kick mule power. It is so easy to carry in a tool belt, it weighs practically nothing but it keeps up with the big boys to a point. Now my Grandson keeps using mine out of my tool belt. I grab it to use it and the battery is dead. It recharges quickly so the time it is finished charging I am usually calmed down. So it looks like I will be getting another one, for me. It is nice that with multiple batteries you can just go and go. There are so many applications that I use it in that it would take to much space to tell you all of them, Better yet, get one and start your own list. They are great/ February 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TEK4 4-Volt Screwdriver - Excellent! I purchased my first TEK4 4v screwdriver years ago when it was solid in a kit with the snips. It's not a tool that I use often, but it sure comes in handy when I need it. For most jobs, an 18v Drill is my tool of choice. But when I'm sitting at the work bench and I need to repair an electronic toy or other gizmo, this screwdriver is much easier to use due to it's small size yet full power. A wire's come loose in a toy that's held together by 14 screws? No problem, this thing will easily remove all 14 and it'll be perfectly capable of putting them all back in, too. It's handy having an adjustable clutch setting so that you can ensure that no screws are over tightened when they're put back in. I'm not sure how another reviewer could have complained of inadequate torque. If I try to drive a screw on a setting of 8 the screw will go in and "click click click" as appropriate. Increase the setting and the screw will go in a little further before the "click click click" returns. This is exactly as it should be. I wonder if the other reviewer received a faulty unit, or purchased one that was extremely old and contained a battery that had gone bad after sitting on the shelf for years? The AP4001 battery lasts a very long time in this tool. I've never run this tool until it completely drained a battery. But again I'm not a heavy user -- I use this around the house and especially on the workbench. When I have a big job, I grab an 18v tool. The AP4800 is fine, and I suppose some favor this style of charger over the AP4700, this charger's predecessor. This charger allows one to plug into the wall under the workbench and then place the charger base on the table where it's within easy reach. This is great if you're planning on leaving it stationary. Some may prefer the AP4700, which is an all-in-one unit with no wall wart or connecting wire, which makes the AP4700 a better choice for someone who wants to keep a charger in their toolbox. I've noticed that many The Home Depot stores have a few really old kits on the shelves. I've seen kits that were 4 years old sitting on the shelf among units that were 5 months old. I bet the 4-year-old kits contained batteries that were nearly dead. The unlucky consumer who purchases these older kits will probably find that the battery lasts for just a minute and that their screwdriver has no power. As with any Ryobi kit containing LiIon batteries, check the packaging or battery for the manufacture date before making your purchase (e.g., serial number begins with CS1438 = 2014, week 38). Always select the newest package, and avoid purchasing units manufactured more than a year old as Ryobi ships batteries with a very low charge level and LiIon cells don't fare well when sitting discharged for such a long time. Note that fully charged LiIon cells can sit idle for more than a year with no problem, but this isn't done by manufacturers for both cost and safety reasons. January 30, 2015
