I picked these up because I needed to cut down the noise in the shop and occasionally listen to music while working. The headphones are extremely comfortable and do a decent job suppressing noise. If you have any music playing you can't hear anything (so I wouldn't recommend listening to music while operating anything dangerous) so it is great when you're immersed in a low-danger, high noise environment. This is the best safety item I have ever purchased and the price makes it an absolute steal.

After testing a pair of these out for a couple months, I proceeded to order 50 pairs for the workforce at the fabrication facility I work with. Thankfully, there is a 2 year warranty, as in the first week we've had 6 (that we're aware of anyway) returned because of damage. The plastic that connects the adjustable metal wire for the headpiece (attached at the ear cups) breaks incredibly easy in some of these. Some were even chipped and broken right out of the box. Based on the pair I was wearing which JUST broke (from adjusting them), and prompted this review, I'd say there's a lack of quality in the plastic being used. Other than that, these are great, and everyone enjoys wearing them with the ability to use their iPod's while they work. It's made enforcement of PPE use a breeze!

After getting a new router and jointer I found that my old ear plugs just weren't working and hurt my ears. I have a good pair of Sony noise cancelling headphones but they are way to expensive and fancy for my garage so I got these bad boys ... well aside from weak bass response these puppies are awesome. They cut out all the painful noise and you can plug them into your ipod/mp3 player.
Beside the weak bass the proprietary battery is kinda stupid

Put these headphones/earmuffs on and the noises around you are significantly curtailed. That alone is worth the price of admission when you're using these in a noisy environment. Obviously these were designed for power tool and construction use but you can easily find other applications including a noisy office!
Use them standalone or plug in your MP3 player -- though as the manual states, the audio is limited to 82 dB to protect your hearing. I had no complaints about the sound, and it did come through in stereo.
The circuitry inside is simply an adjustable gain notch filter centered around human voice frequencies. There is no active noise cancellation. In fact, these headphones are perfectly usable without any battery inside at all.
They fit comfortably but as I have a rather large head they do feel a little bit tight after prolonged use. Otherwise, these are great! I have even received comments from coworkers about how cool and futuristic they look!

I purchased these for a couple of reasons, mowing the lawn and the occasional trip to the range. I like the idea of having a MP3 player for the hours that I spend mowing the lawn and the thought of not having to pull ear plugs in and out all day long and still being able to hear commands on the range is very appealing. It will be an added bonus if they will work well on commercial aircraft, although they are a bit big for carry on.
I have purchased Ryobi before and have been happy with the quality. I like the idea of the lithium batteries, but not that they are a propriety size and style. I have way too many battery chargers as it is. I did not give the headphones an excellent rating as I find the battery case cover a bit tricky and it looks like it might be the weak link in the system.
I went with the purchase online as that was the only place that they were on sale, and I had a coupon that was about to expire for online purchases.
