I purchase these boots for renovation projects. Solidly built and very sturdy. Easily adjustable mounting arms are perfect for working in the attic and fitting into an existing ceiling cut out. One minor challenge is the boot collar is a full 6 inch diameter. Go measure other collars and take-offs and you’ll find they are a bit under 6 inches. Now go measure the inside diameter of your flex duct. Is it also 6 inches? So now you have to nest two objects of the same diameter. Not so easy. The solution I discovered through luck and trial-and-error is Speedi-Products Flex Duct (Model# FD-25R8 06, Internet# 204287972. Its Casco-Flex made by C.A.Schroeder.) The inside diameter is slightly larger than 6 inches and fits comfortably on the Speedi-Boot collar and clamps down easily on under 6 inch diameter takeoffs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it was advertised to do. These units allow for quick installation of registers without all of the hassle of conventional registers. Just line up, cut, nail, seal and you're good to go. The built in foam seals are a nice touch, though I still used Mastik to seal up all the seams of the register itself and to seal it to the dry wall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well with suspended ceiling Was shorted one of these in shipping but works extremely well with a suspended ceiling. You will need self tapping screws to attach it to the grid. No depth adjustment needed and gives a tight seal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product! This boot is ideal when finishing a room and you don't want heat or air conditioning in the room until it is complete. Very easy to install.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good before dry wall is up with new construction. Not good if drywall is alrady up. I used this to add a return into a corner of my already finished basement. So the drywall was already in place. I cut a hole and stuck this between two wall studs. It has a nail with a sliding bracket in each corner. The idea is you put this where you need it in between two wall studs, slide the brackets so they contact the studs and pound the nails in. Should take a minute or two. Problem is, you don't have room to swing a hammer. I could only get one of the nails in. I guess if you use this before the drywall is in, you could swing from inside the room and the nail would go in at a slight angle. it would be ugly, but would work. There are opening for screws which works better, but you can't pre drill because the edge is right up against the dry wall. Again, if the dry wall isn't up, not a problem. I used some small self tapping screws that I manually screwed in and it worked. It was my fault for not thinking things through, so I'm not dinging the product, I just wanted to make people aware that this product is not useful in the drywall is already up.
