Customer Reviews

8 in. Round Ceiling Air Vent Register, White with Fixed Cone Diffuser and Bowtie Damper is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy install and operate This unit comes in four pieces; the cone grille, actuator ring, key and set of 4 screws. The on-line schematic seems to indicate that the actuator ring and grille are one fused item, but not so. Speedi-Grille customer support told me that the optional installation ring is needed only on new installations and they would send them to me if needed. The actuator ring is easy to fit into duct housing in ceiling in most cases. I secured mine with sheet metal screws (drill pilot holes first). I installed a total of 5 units and had difficulty with one because the duct in ceiling was out of round. I snipped the duct and worked the the ring into the duct. The installation instructions online do not relate to this unit as far as the hands-free feature. With this unit, to secure and center the grille cover to install the screws, insert the key through the grille and through the actuator and align the holes for the screws. The key will hold the weight of the grille if you need to let go. When done, pull the key down low enough to make adjustments without having to use a step stool, if possible. Easy to adjust flow by turning key. One con is key is plastic. Hope this helps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product reduced air flow when closed I needed a vent that closed to save energy in an area of the house that got too warm. Overall this product served that purpose although there is some are air leakage when the vent is closed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product I was able to retrofit the vents in my 1964-built house, although tin snips were required to remove small parts of existing ducting to allow the new vents to fit
