Rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wow! So Poor I don't even know where to start... I bought this set to get a all the common air-tools in one package for a project to replace the steering components on my truck. First impression was that all the tools were covered in oil- to the point that all the "speedway" stickers slid right off. The tools also looked grimy with the oil, and my wife asked if they were used. Not a big deal if they worked, but they did not. Putting the quick disconnects onto each tool, I realized they shorted me one, so I had to go to the store to get one more. Finally, when the quick disconnects are on the tools, many of the tools no longer fit into the case, which seems like something any manufacturer should have figured out prior to going commercial. Onto the performance: The impact wrench was the most disappointing. I could stop its rotation with my hand, so it would not break free a single bolt in this project. I had to resort to hand tools, but kept trying to get it to work throughout the long day of crawling under the car, but it just got more frustrating as the day went on, and the wrench eventually stuck "on", so air constantly leaked out of the trigger area. The air ratched didn't malfunction, but had soooo little torque that I basically held the air on, and then twisted the handle myself. It was like an electric drill that is just about out of power- it can hold the chuck stationary, but can't rotate the bolt you are working on. Again I had to resort to my hand tools. As I was reassembling everything, I used the air ratchet to tighten bolts on the skid plates, but it was only able to get bolts to within a half inch of being tightened, making me think it's actual torque rating is less than 10 ft/lbs. Finally, the air chisel was used with a picklefork attachment to try to break both the idler and pinion arm joints free. It only vibrated slightly, doing almost no work, so again, out came the hand tools. All in all, this is one of the biggest disappointments I've ever come across in a purchase. I bought all these tools to make this project easier, and none of them helped me in the least. I had bought a Husky compressor/tool combo from HD in 2005 that had no-name tools with it that worked just fine, but these tools are so bad, they shouldn't be called tools. I read a couple reviews after my experience, and they both echoed what I had seen- basically that the tools didn't function well, and finally broke. I am surprised HD would offer for sale such an obviouse inferior set of tools. Long term, after I have finally done some research, I'll try to get a decent IR or CP set of tools to give me the performance/benefit I know should come with having air tools. August 14, 2012
