The tiles could be removed at a later time, however it would be best to see how the double sided adhesive affects your hardwood flooring before starting the project. Some adhesives may not remove cleanly while others may in fact leave a mark or otherwise harm the hardwood flooring. Alternatively you could secure the tiles to a carpet pad, then place the pad over the hardwood flooring under your son’s bed. Be sure the tiles are secure to the pad to avoid a trip hazard.
Best wishes on your project. Read Less
