Can I power this ac with a small generator? How may watts power need for this ac ?

Asked by: hoangando
I bought this unit to power with a Honda 2000 generator. The generator would not start the compressor. I bought a hard start kit and installed on unit. Generator would then start compressor but overloaded generator and generator would shut down. I used a SUPCO SP6 hard start. This unit is 1375 watts. Not watts listed in other answer 11.8 amps.......

Hello Bill, For continuous drainage in heat mode use the lower drain. The connection accepts a standard garden hose. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris

do you need change the water tank ever day
Asked by: rob
Hello, You do not need to empty the water tank every day. This unit has a feature called Self Evaporating Technology, which will take care of the water. Once the water tank fills, the unit pumps the water upward where it then falls down over the machine, cooling it, causing the water to evaporate in the process.

We have vinyl windows, so we didn't expect it to cool like our regular ac. We have already had days in the upper 90's and it keeps it about 10-15• cooler than outside and with less humidity. It is kind of loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love our new Portable A/C-Heater We needed this for our newly installed Four Season Porch here in Florida. It works great, cools and dehumidifies well. Will use to heat on chilly days during cool months. We did not use window venting, but rather cut a hole in the wall and it worked best for us. We ordered the dryer vent type thing shown in manual and put screen on it to keep out weather, lizards, bugs, etc. It is no noisier than any window unit. I like that it blows out the top as I do not like a/c or heat blowing on me directly. It is easy to move around on its wheels. I do not believe that the manual is clear enough about the water drainage. We now have a hose draining into a bucket which needs to be emptied regularly and is unsightly. But soon, when all this rain stops, we will cut another hole and drain the water to the outside. Be sure you have a plan for the drainage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just too noisy for us! Product ok, but doesn't work as well as previous reviews suggest. We are very diisappointed in the amount of noise output! Such a bummer. Will not buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great!!! Easy to use!!! So worth it! Very easy to use! Cools large rooms down quickly! Gave such relief in those terribly hot summer months for us and our pets too! And to much surprise didn't even really effect the electric bill either- very efficient ! Was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend for those unexpected heat waves too! Especially for homes with elderly folk, pets or anyone who can't handle the extremely hot temps. Great investment!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Great Unit! We bought this unit for our 17’ x 17’ sun room. It works great and we were surprised and impressed with how warm it has kept the room this winter, even when the temps are in the teens. It is a great heat pump. We haven’t used it to cool yet, but I am sure it will perform just as well. We mounted the exhaust through the wall. Highly recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well for air I wanted to air condition my 200 square foot room. This unit has worked well with no drainage for the air conditioning function. It does require a window or drop ceiling or other way to send out the warm air the unit creates. Not having either a window or drop ceiling I routed it through a vent in a wall to another room. I have not used any function besides the air conditioner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not cool a 200 square foot room ! Easy set-up... but does not cool even a 200 sq ft area much less the 450 sq ft that is advertised.. The 10 ft by 20 ft area the unit is operating in and on the highest fan and lowest temp setting (62 degrees), the lowest temperature that could be achieved was 75 degrees... that is with an outside temp of only 80 degrees... unit runs for at least 2-3 hrs to even begin to approach the 75 degree mark. I would say this unit ideal for a 100 sq ft room!! P.S. The unit is custom vented through the wall , with absolutely no air leeks . Window venting is not air tight. Sorry...Keep trying !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I needed to upgrade the heating ability in my century old single wall construction house in order to get insurance. I bought this portable window combo unit and have finally been able to test the heating ability: it far surpasses my expectations in this small house. The AC feature will seldom be used as I prefer windows and doors open for natural cooling, but have had a major problem with heating. Great Job! Will definitely buy another one of these for other rooms as necessary!
