Product Overview

This Evaporative Air Cooler, Humidifier, and Fan with Ionizer is versatile, lightweight and economical. The Cooler easily rolls from room to room for use anywhere in your house or office. This Air Cooler shoots a stream of air with oscillating louvers, to evenly distribute refreshing cool air. Can also be used as a fan or humidifier if temperature is not an issue. - plus get the air cleaning benefits of the ionic air purifier. The remote control allows you to easily change settings. The Air Cooler works by endothermic reaction (a reaction that consumes heat), so this evaporative Air Cooler sucks air through a wick saturated with water. As the air flows through the wick, some of the water evaporates into the air, consuming the heat that was in the air. An air stream is then blown out the front of the unit and is considerably cooler than the current room temperature. This is not an air conditioner and therefore uses much less energy. Note: This unit is best used in dry climates or open spaces. Leave window/door open when temperature or humidity rises in the room. Add as much ice as possible and set unit next to you for best effect.

Customer Questions & Answers

how does the unit work just plug in it blows cool air

Asked by: duck
If you plug it in and turn it on, it blows like a regular fan. If you want to set in on "cool air" you need to fill the tank with water first. I use refrigerated water (and ice on super hot days) and it works great. Just a note: If you use it in a bedroom, I suggest keeping the door open. If the door is closed, it gets muggy from the evaporation, and by morning the room is hot. But when the door is open, it keeps the room nice and cool. Be sure the tank is full before you go to sleep, or it can burn. There is a loud beep when the water gets too low, but if the tank is full, it will last all night. Also, I put it up on a chair or a TV tray, otherwise for me, I can't feel the air when I'm sleeping.

Customer Reviews

150 CFM 3-Speed Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with Ionizer for 87.5 sq.ft. is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so great I did a lot of research on evaporative coolers for use in my one bedroom apartment and opted for this model, as the reviews seemed great. However, after trying every tip/trick I can find, I will be returning them. They do not keep my apartment cool. They simply blow hot air around. It takes a giant amount of ice to cool the air it spits out even slightly, but it still does not make a difference to the overall temperature of my apartment. They don't even blow as hard as a standard box fan would. I don't need to spend over $100/piece on glorified fans that require daily maintenance and cleaning (draining/refilling the water, cleaning the filters) to keep them in proper working condition. No thanks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 150 CFM 3-Speed Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with Ionizer for 87.5 sq.ft. This cooler is fair, although I feel that it's no more than a glorified fan. I can't tell that the air is any cooler than our fans, even with ice in the water and ice packs on top. Of course, I wasn't expecting that it would totally cool the area (I bought it to help cool the garage for the dogs when it was really hot) and I know that it isn't meant to cool that large an area. I did, however, expect the air to at least be cooler than the fan air when freshly loaded with ice and ice packs. I think it's just fair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Portable AC better for a little more Hardly effective unless filled with CHILLED water. Then, acceptable, but only for half an hour or so. Otherwise, only 7-10 degrees at best. Add a few bucks and get a portable AC unit instead. And, yes, we live in the driest climate, Nevada.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SPT Evaporative cooler This product works fine for doing exactly what it is intended to do, that is, provide some (repeat some) cooling in warm rooms. We have a room that is hotter than all the others in the house because it gets sun virtually all day with no tree shading. For this reason we got the cooler rather than install a actual portable a/c unit that had to be exhausted. For this purpose the SPT evap cooler works just fine, lowering the temp nearly 10 degrees in conjuction with a ceiling fan. We put ice in the water reservoir to help. At around $100. it works fine, just be realistic as to what it can do for you, it's not an a/c unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay product, but needs to be directly pointed at you and in very close proximity. For the first few weeks, the product was leaking from the drain plug. I tried to tighten the plug, but it continued to leak. This lasted for about 3 weeks, then all of a sudden it stopped. Now the product is functioning as it should.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ineffective product I bought this to cool my living room in Denver, CO. The product is supposed to pump water up and run it down through a honeycomb mesh, and the water is evaporated off as the fan blows through the mesh. But the pump didn't work well enough other than to trickle water down a couple spots of the mesh, so it didn't work as an evaporative cooler at all. The drain is hard to get to, and the ice packs on top don't work at all. I returned this product and bought the Honeywell version, and it works really well!
