Product Overview

Micro-Induction Cooktop provides the best in cooktop performance, safety and efficiency. Induction heats as electricity flows through a coil to produce a magnetic field under the ceramic plate. When a ferromagnetic cookware is placed on the ceramic surface, currents are induced in the cookware and instant heat is generated due to the resistance of the pan. Heat is generated to the pan only and no heat is lost. As there are no open flames, inductions are safer to use than conventional burners. Once cookware is removed, all molecular activity ceases and heating is stopped immediately.

Answer:
You need ferromagnetic cookware to work with induction cook top.
To tell if a pot or pan is induction-compatible, hold a magnet to the bottom. If it clings, the cookware will work on an induction cooktop.
Cast Iron and stainless steel will work.
Aluminum, copper or glass cookware will not work unless they have a layer on the bottom with magnetic properties.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Almost perfect Love this, especially for the price. Looks very sleek, is sturdy and stable, and will work well either on countertop or dropin. I'd ordered this as a drop-in unit, not realizing it could do both, and was very pleasantly surprised! My biggest complaint is the apparent lack of precision in the heat settings. They go in relatively large increments, so it has been tricky getting the heat exactly right. There's a thermostat - controlled "keep warm" setting, which is nice, but it suffers from the same issues. It has settings of 180 degrees, 190, 210, and 230...but what if I want 200 or 220? Or 193? I haven't phoned customer service yet, so there might be a way to adjust the built-in settings (also, degrees Celsius would be really nice). I'll update this review if that's true. November 15, 2014
