In Cabinet or not?

Can this be installed within a cabinet?

This should NOT be installed within a cabinet unless you can customize the interior to provide you with a 3.5" in clearance on all sides.

Started out nice, but after a while, it became a lot noisier than I would have like, but not overly obnoxious. If there's a power outage, it resets to default temperatures - very annoying. After owning it for a year or so, the right side temperature display started reading room temperature, not the interior temperature. I used a digital thermometer to confirm it's still keeping it at the set temperature, so it's only the display that's wrong. Another annoying "feature." I don't find the interior lamps a real advantage - you still have to pull the bottle out to read the label, so all the lamp does is light up the corks. Overall, not a bad wine cooler for the price, but the misleading temperature readout, noisy operation, and resetting on power loss make this model frustrating, since I believe they could have been fixed if designed properly.

You will see a little fluctuation. It may drop a degree or two but then the heat or cooling kicks on and brings it back to the temp it was set at. We have owned it now for two weeks.

With only a 3 month HD warranty, I am not feeling very optimistic. If I had to pay shipping to use the fridge company's warranty, it would cost less to throw it away and buy a new one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I do not Recommend First this looked great, it was the perfect size under my DESK and worked OK for a week. Then one day I see an error and the TEMP display showed "P1" instead of the temperature. I check inside and all the bottles were warm. I tried pressing the buttons and nothing happened. The only thing left was to unplug and plug back in. I did that and everything reset, and it shows a temperature of 78 degrees. However, it started to work and appeared to be cooling. Everything was fine for a few days and it happened again. Now, it has happened at least 3 times in the first 30 days, so I am going to try and return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent unit in this price bracket! I did a great deal of research on multiple models and manufacturers before purchasing this cooler. I generally saw the same complaints over and over when looking at models under $400. They were loud, failed to maintain temperature, and could not handle larger bottles without sacrificing a lot of capacity. This one reached target temperature very quickly, much faster than the several hours (or more) that other models apparently require. It holds the set temperature very well, but like any small fridge, the temp will climb quickly when you open it. It rebounds very quickly though. If you keep your house fairly warm in the summer, it will probably run almost all the time, but it doesn't draw a tremendous amount of power. Even if it's running full out all day and night, in the most expensive market in the US, it will still be less than $0.50/day to operate. Something to keep in mind with almost all of these small coolers: They're Peltier cooled units, they really do need a little air flow, much more so than your fridge might. I don't think it would do well completely enclosed within a cabinet or tightly fitted under a counter unless you added a ventilation fan for it. Also, it's a good idea to get a can of computer duster and blow the dust off the fans and heat sinks on the back every few months. If they get caked in dust, it will start to have trouble maintaining temperature. I didn't see this in the manual, but it should be added. It's quiet, far more so than my refrigerator or my desktop PC. You can tell when it's on if the room is silent, but the noise is almost undetectable if you've got a TV or radio on, even at low volume. My aquarium water pump is considerably louder. It comes with 10 removable shelves, each holding two standard bottles. The removable shelves make it possible to store champagne or other large bottles on the bottom while only losing two bottle spaces. It also makes it possible to store boxed wine, particularly the smaller boxes, while still holding 12 standard bottles (see photo) It's deep enough that taller white wine bottles and champagne bottles fit just fine. It looks good, the finish is clean and it looks well assembled. The doors seat firmly and crisply, and stay closed securely. The display is bright and the control buttons are crisp and simple. When it arrived it was well packaged, all parts were present, and it went together quickly. My only complaints are pretty minor. The interior light is mostly useless, it really only illuminates the top two bottles, and even then it's relatively dim. It's really more mood lighting than utility. It lacks a door lock, which would be nice in a house with kids. It isn't an issue for us though. During assembly, the manual is a little sparse, but it's pretty straight forward. The only complaint I had there is it never mentions where they hide the handles, which are taped inside the rear of the unit and aren't really easy to spot. This caused a few minutes of panic on Christmas Eve when I thought it was missing the handles completely. This might be ridiculously specific, but I'm a ham radio operator, and the Peltier cooler generates a ton of RF noise. If you're a ham, don't install this anywhere near your radios. You won't be able to hear a thing when it's running. All in all, a great price, great product, and it was dubbed "The greatest Christmas gift ever" by my girlfriend, which is the important bit. There are certainly better overall units on the market, but I couldn't find one for under $550. It blows the $200-$300 units out of the water, and is well worth the extra few bucks.
