Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by GrampaD Poor customer support replacing faulty unit
The dehumidifier (the replacement) appears to be working as advertized. Not as quiet as I would like and it is a heat generator in a 12' x 12' hobby room. It took some fiddling with the collection tank to get the automatic shut off feature to work.
The first unit did not work right out of the box and I made the mistake of following the directions contained in the box, dealing with the company (Sunpentown Int'l), instead of returning it to Home Depot. My email with the fill-out exchange order form was "deleted" by the company representative and if I had not followed-up, I would still be waiting for a replacement unit and a prepaid return label.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JBA05 Really reduces humidity well
I like the looks of the dehumidifier and the digital buttons. I unpacked it and immediately started pulling moisture from the air.
I would have rated it a five except for the bucket that collects the water. First it has a lip on it and if you try to sit it on the floor when it is full, it will tip over and spill all over the floor. Even trying to be careful and aware of this I had some mopping up to do. The second item could be either a plus or con depending on your strength. The collection bucket is only 11 pints and I have had to empty it twice a day.
The dehumidifier is somewhat noisy by no louder than a floor box fan.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mimi So far, excellent but I've only owned it a couple wks!
Like a lot of consumers' comments, I based my buying decision on the good-great reviews. Some people said it was noisy but not bad. I have it primarily in my bedroom and pretty much run it through evening. It's quieter on Normal than Turbo. A few others said the tray was a bit so-so when emptying. You can't yank it out, but if you go easy, you won't spill any water. (I use the water to hydrate my plants so it doubles as handy watering can). I'm really pleased so far. I have about 900 square feet to de-mold and this is doing the job just fine. No more musty smells and mold in my closets. BTW, Home Depot sent this before the 7 days so that was a good experience, too.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by dbkuhn Failed after 3 months of use
Not much to say about this product other than complete disappointment. Purchased late in the spring to take care of humidity in the basement. Within 3 months the unit stopped working (right before Hurricane Irene where I NEEDED it after clean up from a little water in the basement). I suspect it was due to rough handling during shipping causing a a leak in the condenser. Unit could be packaged better.
While working, this was a pretty decent unit. Though, thinking back, I'd have gone with a larger dehumidifier so it would not work so hard based on the size of my basement. Not too noisy, did what it was supposed to do and the hose adapter is key for these appliances!
Off to buy a new one....:)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by mla6603 Worth the extra money
I had previously purchased the Perfect Home 4-Pint Dehumidifier, but not only was the small one not doing its job, I needed a more powerful solution.
I was hesitant to spend so much money on a dehumidifier, but I have no regrets. We've had this one for over 2 months and it has consistently collected 30 pints almost every day. I like that it has a humidity gauge and has dropped our humidity from over 70 to around 50. I have a separate humidity ready and the readings are very close.
I love that this dehumidifier is on wheels making it easy to move around when needed. I find the tank easy to empty. It is a bit louder than I prefer, but it makes for a great white noise maker near the baby's room.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kat44 Great little worker!
I should have bought a new dehumidifier years ago. The Kenmore we had sounded like a freight train in our back yard it was so loud. The SPT 30-pint is like a whisper in comparison. On turbo speed the loudest it sounds like is a stand fan on medium speed. Blows cool air, not hot and is great at removing moisture! I use it in our basement and I did have to empty it frequently in the beginning because of it's small size but I knew that before I bought it. I am now emptying it once a day. (It's been very humid in Massachusetts). Great product - I highly recommend it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Babe Working well
So far so good. Have them in my mother's house. She no longer lives there. The high humidity has not arrived yet. This hot summer in Mississippi will let me know whether these dehumidifers can do the job.
I have had no trouble with them so far except for the hookups to the hose in the back. It does not want to go all the way in. So, when you hook up the hose, it is not as stable as I would like for it to be. My boyfriend did not want to cut the plastic tubing. It should have fit perfectly, but did not. It was a little long.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer An Excellent Buy
I had an LG dehumidifier that quit collecting water after just two years of use. LG makes other brands also, so watch what you buy in the store. I ordered the SPT dehumidifier online; and it is working very well and is much more quiet than other dehumidifiers. It is also very energy efficient because my electric bill has not varied much in the 3 months that I have been using this product. With taxes and free delivery, this product was still under $200. And the basement feels so much more habitable. An excellent buy!
