For about a year.....rarely used and now it quit, with the exact problems others have mentioned. Shame too, because it is very quiet.

Just bought a new place and the basement, though dry, started smelling musty. Searched a few places and compared models for quality, features, reviews, and price. This model SPT65 seemed the best overall - fewer issues and higher customer satisfaction. Got it home and started it right up. In the beginning I was emptying it out twice daily (not a problem as I go in the basement at least that much a day) but after a few days less moisture was being drawn out of the air. Now i just empty it every few days and the air doesn't smell musty at all. Love the auto-shutoff and turbo features, and it doesn't seem to pump out high volumes of hot air either. Its a solid piece of equipment.

Like comments from several others, I purchased this unit 18 months ago and it has stopped removing humidity from the air. It just blows cold air leading me to believe I am out of refrigerant or have a bad compressor. VERY dissappointed with the one-year warranty and won't be purchasing another SPT brand unit again.

Dehumidifier works great. Replaced an old unit with this one. Has removed a ton of moisture from the air. Maintains a comfortable temperature in our basement too. Easy setup.

Have a high percentage of humidity in our basement. This product has many good features, but most importantly does the job to complete satisfaction. Works great and has extracted gallons of water every day. Would highly recommend it.

Purchased SD-65e unit new 23 months ago based on good reviews but now the unit has stopped working. I contacted Sunpentown service and reviewed that while the compressor would run, the coils would not cool. Most likely cause was a leak in the sealed refrigeration system. Unit came with only a 1 year warrantee. The cost to ship the unit back SPT with repair was $150 versus a new unit for approx. $230. I have since purchased a Frigidaire 70 pint Energy Star unit which also came with a much better 5 year sealed refrigeration warrantee. My advice is to avoid SPT products based on poor performance and limited warrantee.

Had the unit for sometime and it worked OK. Now it runs until the coils ice up and keeps blasting away. That kisses the so called Energy Star rating good bye. The "P1" code never appears so the defrosting cycle never starts. Tried contacting SUNPENTOWN via their website and never got as much as an auto-reply. The drill now is to plug it in during the morning and leave it unplugged over night to defrost. Should such appliances be disposable after only a couple years? Any refrigerator I've owned lasted 15 years or better. SUNPENTOWN products not should be sold by Home Depot.
