Is this an electric dehumidifier?

How can I get the technical data? Is it a cooler dehumidifier ?
Asked by: Arturo
I am sure you can get technical data via google. This dehumidifier gives off a lot of heat, doesn't cool the space at all.

how do i get the hose to drain the water out of the dehumidifier?

Asked by: Buddy
It comes with an attachment and short tube for a nipple in the collection container area. You attach to the nipple and run tube to drain and it runs and runs as though the collection container never fills. Which it doesn't. I run mine in my basement in the bathroom and have the drain tube go into the shower. Works well.

Customer Reviews

65-Pint Dehumidifier is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 334.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The positive features advertised are true! We had an old dehumidifier that was noisy, energy inefficient, and just plain ugly but did a reasonable job of dehumidifying our 1300 square foot basement for the last 10 years if you emptied the tiny water reservoir (2 quarts) every other day. When it died, we bought this new dehumidifier after carefully reading all the reviews. This unit is excellent! We simply plugged it in and within a day the basement smelled fresh and clean again. It's far more quiet than the last unit and looks nicer too. The reservoir is far larger than in the old unit so there's less maintenance issues. This unit doesn't cause the basement lights to dim when it kicks on - unlike the old unit! We highly recommend this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet, but poor hose drain I received this unit 2 weeks ago and has run smooth and relatively quiet on the normal mode. The basement is drier than before so it's doing the job. However, I wanted a dehumidifier with a continuous drain option and what this one has is inferior. You have to connect 2 flimsy plastic pieces together and thread onto the hose. The water ended up leaking and I had to take the hose off and empty by hand every 2-3 days. They should have the hose connector built into the unit as others do to avoid leaks. This will be going back for that reason alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Just bought a new place and the basement, though dry, started smelling musty. Searched a few places and compared models for quality, features, reviews, and price. This model SPT65 seemed the best overall - fewer issues and higher customer satisfaction. Got it home and started it right up. In the beginning I was emptying it out twice daily (not a problem as I go in the basement at least that much a day) but after a few days less moisture was being drawn out of the air. Now i just empty it every few days and the air doesn't smell musty at all. Love the auto-shutoff and turbo features, and it doesn't seem to pump out high volumes of hot air either. Its a solid piece of equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lowered the humidity but.... I'm using this dehumidifier in my basement / man cave. I does a great job of removing moisture from the air but did make the temperature in the basement increase. When the machine is running warm air blows out the top which is warming the space. It went from a cool 71 degrees to 77 sometimes 78. Being summer now I'm not too happy about the increased temps. Also it’s a little louder than I was expecting. Not loud enough to here upstairs but it definitely makes some noise. These are my only 2 complaint about this unit. Overall it does a great job of lowering the humidity. I usually empty the bucket twice a day and its pretty full.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Disappointing I do not recommend this product. It worked fine out of the box (don’t most products?), but after only several months of use, it no longer removed moisture from the air due to a loss of refrigerant. SPT replaced the unit under warranty, but the same failure occurred with the second unit within several months of use. This time, SPT refused to replace the unit since it was now beyond 1 year from the original purchase date. The two units had a combined use of about 8 months (only used in the summer months). I was very surprised since the ratings for this unit on Home Depot website were so high (4.2 out of 5 stars).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unit is quiet and efficient I bought this dehumidifier to replace one that stopped working. I picked it based on other reviews and the energy star rating. It runs very quietly and seems to work very well. I haven't had it very long so time will tell if it continues to work as well as it initially does. I like the ability to remove and clean the filter (my old one did not have that). My only negative is that the collection tank does not nave a flat bottom and when you pull it out to empty it can tip over easily so you have to be careful to hold it upright until you get the handle up and pick it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Dehumidifier works great. Replaced an old unit with this one. Has removed a ton of moisture from the air. Maintains a comfortable temperature in our basement too. Easy setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the extra and very quiet I researched reviews far and wide and this was the only one that did not have multiple complaints of failure after a year or less. This is much quieter than the one it replaced. The turbo setting is louder than the regular setting of course, but it is the sound of moving air much like a fan. Not the rattle and rumbling of the compressor starting like the old one it replaced. The air filter is easy to remove to clean and the bucket looks like it will be easy to clean. Our old one had areas in the bucket you could not access to clean and I could not get the musty smell out of it because of that.
