Just bought a new place and the basement, though dry, started smelling musty. Searched a few places and compared models for quality, features, reviews, and price. This model SPT65 seemed the best overall - fewer issues and higher customer satisfaction. Got it home and started it right up. In the beginning I was emptying it out twice daily (not a problem as I go in the basement at least that much a day) but after a few days less moisture was being drawn out of the air. Now i just empty it every few days and the air doesn't smell musty at all. Love the auto-shutoff and turbo features, and it doesn't seem to pump out high volumes of hot air either. Its a solid piece of equipment.

Dehumidifier works great. Replaced an old unit with this one. Has removed a ton of moisture from the air. Maintains a comfortable temperature in our basement too. Easy setup.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Shari This product does the job!
Have a high percentage of humidity in our basement. This product has many good features, but most importantly does the job to complete satisfaction. Works great and has extracted gallons of water every day. Would highly recommend it.

Have had this maybe 2-3 years now. It runs in our basement maybe 6 months a year. House is medium sized. We're in the northern US. Does a good job keeping the moisture down. Not too loud, but you can hear it. The drain mechanism got a bit funky about a year ago: the dehumidifier's internal path to the direct line to our floor drain no longer works. Can't see any blockage or issues. Just won't drain that way any more. Manually draining the bin every several hours is a non-starter for a basement utility. So, I Jimmied the drain to the bin so that it thinks the bucket is in place, then let it just spill over onto the floor drain. Kind of goofy-looking, but it works, and it stills pulls serious moisture from the air.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by homedepotmaniac Quiet, but poor hose drain
I received this unit 2 weeks ago and has run smooth and relatively quiet on the normal mode. The basement is drier than before so it's doing the job. However, I wanted a dehumidifier with a continuous drain option and what this one has is inferior. You have to connect 2 flimsy plastic pieces together and thread onto the hose. The water ended up leaking and I had to take the hose off and empty by hand every 2-3 days. They should have the hose connector built into the unit as others do to avoid leaks. This will be going back for that reason alone.
